Re: Drag racing how-to, hints, and tricks thread

that was a great bit of info. Much appriciated. I ran my mostly stock 05 titan at the track about a month ago. I can not turn my tcs off but I found that if you pull the abs fuse, it eliminates it. And although it makes for a heck of a burnout, aparently the computer shuts down the truck at about 85 mph. allowing for a run of 15.97 my first pass. After melting the tires a few more times for sh*#@ and giggles, I re-inserted the fuse and after a few better passes ran a 15.3. Not too shabby for a stock truck with only exaust.
been looking for go fast parts that aren't too expensive now to see if I can get a little faster without going overboard, looking for a programmer or chip but have had no luck.

In the meantime keep those tires fryin and keep it upright.

Thanks for the great info... If our stock crank hp is more like 330, what is our stock RWHP at?

Thanks!

Not if you didn't know anything about dragracing.

Anyway, nice that you contributed to the thread. In fact thanks for getting yourself banned as well.

Have a nice day

Great info, thanks a lot! I never thought about the tail gate, that must cause a lot of resistance. What if there's a Toneau cover on it with the tailgate removed? Would that be good or bad?

Re: Drag racing how-to, hints, and tricks thread

I have raced my Titan at the track here. It is slower than most of you guys but it is also 1800 feet here. Do you have any trouble with the engine managemant pulling power if the transmission heats up by braking at the lights? I wonder if that could be the reason for the bogging for some guys if they are power braking?

Re: Drag racing how-to, hints, and tricks thread

by the way this is very good info. Anyone will benefit especially if they have not raced before. I do race my 97 camaro through the season ET bracket racing in mostly stock form but all vehicles are a little different and it is great to get info from people that have raced the vehicles.

Please tell me how your getting your 1/8 @ 9.66@73mph
Seems like I have the same year model and trim. And possibly the same mods and my best is a 10.000 @ 72.14mph, shaving off over 3/10ths will get me in the 14's!

Re: Drag racing how-to, hints, and tricks thread

Rossi here!!! I'm running 9.2's on stock tires.

I typically only stall up to about 1100 rpms. I go WOT on third yellow.

I go around the water and do a small burn out to make sure I didn't find any water or any soft rubber sticking to my tires. Just a few seconds...no smoke show.

Before headers...I was 9.4's 1/8 mile.

I just got drag radials...hope for some really good 60' times and great runs this weekend.

A quick power brake of 3-5 seconds is all you need and that shouldn't generate enough head in the trans to do anything.

You also shouldn't stall until you know the other guy is staged.....as soon as your staged....and he becomes stage....then bring your stall up to what you wish it to be...you'll only be under stall for about 3 seoconds.
