I just got my prefilter for my AFE yesterday and made a couple quick bef/aft runs with my scan tool connected. AFE claims only a 1% airflow loss using their prefilter....well the lied...it's actually less than 1% (.836%)!
Prefilter P/N (Black) #28-10053 about $30 through Sparkplugs.com
The data's a little hard to read because I did a cut/paste from and excel sheet. Basically it show a difference of only .26 lbs/min of flow at WOT.
I just ordered mine from a none sponsor but they have a promotion going on now till jan 06. The total was $286 shipped. I would love to use the sponsers of this board but..... Any one that wants to know the place just PM. I will post as soon as I get it and install.
BTW thanks everyone for helping me decide. This place rocks!!!

: I was old school low level hotroder and had always been told performance parts on street cars would increase effeciency and directly mpg. So the statement that any performace part is goin to decrease mpg confounds me. As long as you drive like good little monkey it should increase mpg. granted I drive like a scalded AZZ baboon and had driving record that reflected it. My wife makes me tone it down, but sometimes it just so bloody hard.

I have had some challenges with this installation of afe st II. I found the directions from the manufacturer completely inadequate. How about stating that you have to remove the windshield washer reservoir first? Then save all the original parts for use later. I am not very satisfied with the afe brand.

Uh... You don't have to remove the windshield washer reservoir, probably why they didn't mention it.

They dont mention it because it is needed................
Directions were good enough for me.........

I'm happy with my AFE Stage II...I'm just trying to tweak it so I can keep the SES light off. It came on after I put it on, but then I reset the ECU...hopefully that will keep it off for good! Anyone else have this happen?

I had the same issue on my install. The stock air box front mount bolt is almost in possible to get to without the washer reservoir removed. Perhaps the air box design was changed? Anyway, thanks RockyMtnTitan for your review.

Re: AFE Magnum Force Stage II Kit Installed...Pics
I have an aFe stg 2, had it from the 1st group buy on here from sparkplugsect.com they're a site sponsor. I'd actually prefer a volant now though since it's more of a cai since it's a closed box that has a nozzle through the stock airbox nozzle location. the aFe is more of a ram air intake with a mostly enclose box. it can still suck in quite a bit of hot engine compartment air into the engine, increasing engine temp and robbing hp as engine temp goes up... just my take. so imo fully warmed up it would give less power imo. and heat is also an enemy of mileage... all around I'd like to ditch my aFe for a volant
it's fun to have an intake, but now that I've had it a while. I'm leaning towards their competitor... plus the new powerflo volant filter or whatever it's called is a dry/oil free filter and it's supposed to flow and filter better so I'm always interested in better efficiency... plus volant has that cai snorkel add on piece which will suck in more cool air
