You guys are KILLIN me!

Bought a new Titan in this spring after 20+ years of Toyotas with 22R and 3.4 6 banger engines. I'm hoping that the Nissan won't disappoint me with quality (now that I have the permanent brake fix)

To say I'm pleased with what happens when I stomp on it would be an understatment of olympic proportion!

here I am... trying NOT to to fall in to my obsessive pattern of always trying to find better, faster, cooler.... and I stumble across THIS place

short story is this:

I'm gonna pull the trigger on either a NISMO or K&N CAI, that's a given.

So is the exhaust. I'm gonna get a dual borla system since it seems to bear near the top in quality and won't drone on me. I'll install it myself most likely but may go to a shop is I don't have time.

I've crawled all over the board to try and avoid 'newbie can't use the seach function' (I'm a sysadmin of a hunting site) syndrome but would like to get some input to you seasoned veterans.

I haven't been able to find a borla system where I can specifiy which muffler I want (probably the louder of the offerings). Any input is appreciated if you have some links for online shopping.

Also, not being much of an online auto parts shopper, I'm unsure which of the ellebenty bazillion sites are reputable, who to avoid, and who has consistently good prices. I don't mind paying a few more bucks for solid customer service.

Any guidance or advice is much appreciated. I'm sure after these 2 mods you guys will talk me in to all KINDS of stuff I don't need!! Or at least that's what I'll tell my girfriend at any rate

Thanks!!!

Len

PS I've noticed a bunch of people from Virginia. I live in Ashburn. Does anyone have a recommendation for a shop that could install my exhaust if I can't make the time?

Any of you freaks ever get together to drive around with loud exhaust and scare the local population?

Len,

1. Borla's do have a noticeable drone. There are some tricks to try.
2. You just missed a meet of area Titans in Charlotte, NC
3. Check out some of our sponsors for deals on Borlas. They won't be in business on the forum if they didn't do it right by the customers!
car-stuff.com has it for $800. (split rear) You may want to check out Banks Monster or Gibson Duel...

Can't help you with the parts, my motor's all stock, with the exception of the infamous airbox mod.

But.... can I ask who you work for? I'm a UNIX sys admin working in Reston. I work for a gov. contractor, but want to move into the commercial world. So, if you're looking for a UNIX sys admin, PM me.

I think pretty much any of the site sponsors are good, but others will be able to chime in on that.
If you're looking for OEM replacement parts, www.nissanpart4u.com can't be beat.

Mossy has by far the best price on the Borla and Greg is a great guy to deal with. However there is only one Borla system. No options whatsoever.

Len,

If you don't mind me asking, what's the hunting site you work on? I'm sure you'll have some new members soon...

I don't know what Borla set up he has but My borla has NO DRONE and it Rocks! I haven't heard anyone who has thier catback system complain of the sound. High Quality Steel. And you won't go wrong with the intakes. Either one your gonna feel the power difference and gas mileage increase. You'll have a grin ear to ear when you feel it.

I just bought and installed the Borla catback system. I did LOTS of internet and catalog shopping and ended up buying at Mossy Nissan, in Calif., I think. Paid $725 delivered, as they met a price on the internet. Installation is very straightforward, and the only real concern is making sure the tips don't hit the underside of the bumper. All parts are top quality. Also, no drone whatsoever. The exhaust tips look KILLER! Even my wife, who just shakes her head when I do stuff to our vehicles, said the tips really made the truck look badass.

$725 is a great price. Install of the exhaust is easy 45 mins especially if your truck is new I still shot the bolts with PB blaster. I have no drone frome the exhaust I also have the KN 77 series and I love the combo!!

Good stuff!

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it!

I'm getting pretty excited to get the mods on. Tehre's definitely a younger part me that needs to come out every once in a while when a carload of posers in a little honda with a muffler decide to mess with me

The site I sysadmin is called www.goodhunting.com please don't interpret this as trolling for users or anything but anyone is welcome. It's a fairly small group of BS'ers that occasionally talk about hunting too... I've met some great people there over the years and had some great hunting trips.

I have an ATV for hunting as there's no way I would abuse my titan by taking it back on the land we hunt!!! Maybe when it's paid for in a million years

I'll try to post some pics of my truck later although it's plain jane stock right not. It IS loaded with every option though, except VDC, i wanted nothing to do with a computer being involved with that aspect of my driving!!!

a good freind of mine has a Hemi truck. I keep telling him it's all over when I see him on the street but have no idea if I Titan will take his dodge truck. Any of you guys know? I've driven his truck before and it seems pretty sluggish off the line compared to a titan.

thanks everone!!

Len

I've been

looking for data that shows the actual air flow of each choice... anyone have a link?

I don't want to let me childish quest for getting what I want RIGHT NOW to lead me to a decision I'll regret later.

I'm guesing the bottom line is more air available to the engine = better. I just can't find out which does it best.

K&N always delivers great performance, if there is any difference it would be minimal

what a day!!!

Man o man but that was fun... I pulled the trigger on the borla duel rear exit cat back, AFE stage 2 CAI, and Greg's infamous prerunner leveling kit for the front...

Got pretty good prices on everything...

HEY ! Does anyone have a grand I can borrow real quick to repair the damage to my credit card?
