Well I did it. I installed my K&N FIPK Generation II and it sounds AWESOME. So i cranked the truck up, and I was like "ehhh doesnt sound any different". So I took her around the block and gassed it and sure enough it sounded like a damn race car. Had a meaner sound to it, and I loved it. I didnt really notice a different sound though until I get close to around 2000 RPM though. Is this normal? I double checked all my hoses and clamps as reccomended. There was no whistling sound or rattling anything like that so I guess everything is secure and seated properly. I wish I had some before and after sound clips though just so you could see how different it sounds, but for those of you who have already installed a CAI other than stock can already testify and relate to what I am talking about. Thanks for all the help guys. I could not have done it without ya.
One quick question though for those who don't like oiled filters such as this one. Why would a Nissan dealership such as courtesyparts.com reccomend this intake above all others if problems with the oxygen sensor getting oily residue on it are supposedly so prominent? It would seem to me that user error is the biggest cause of problems such as this. Like oiling the filter too much or too often. My thinking would be that oil and the filter would not only help repel dirt but also moisture and water as well. I like the ideaology behind the oiled filter better.
Maybe they reccomended that intake so they can sell you a new sensor after yours fails from too much oil. lol
I went with AEM BRUTE FORCE so I wouldnt have to worry about the sensor, and when you close the hood it completes the box lid. When the hood is open it looks kool too.
Any other K&N 77series owners out there? I've read most of this thread and I haven't heard anyone say that there CAI is really, really loud...when I installed mine it was almost like I put hooker headers on it or something, but it sounded good. Even just slightly pressing on the gas pedal you could notice but obviously not as loud as when you tromped on it. Now that I have my banks on though, I don't know where all the noise is coming from, its loud in the front and loud in the back...just plain mean and I love it!!

Oh ya, my 2 cents on the oiled filter thing is the same as most people....obviously someone who doesn't know what they are doing could easily over oil the filter and stick it back in still dripping oil...and that probably wouldn't be so good. If you oil it correctly and leave it for some time to allow it to soak in (preferably 24hrs) then I would say you will never have a problem.

yup, and that's why it is smart to invest in saving a few pennies for an extra filter just for that occasion...

I've got the K&N intake on my Frontier. I bought the cleaning kit, and read the directions. It's very clear that there's a "soak" period.
has anyone here ver used one of these
the AIR MAX .... it looks cool but i wonder if it really works also do yall think its a total seal from the hot engine air i cant really tell form the pics.
I am a new owner and haver not gotten into performance since my 78 Z28 but want to now and have been told that cold air is a starting place. I saw some good stuff on the Fram Booster. I too have a concern with oil covered. Any help would be apreciated.
I recently installed the AEM Brute Force CAI and for the most part it went well, except for the part where you have to pull down the plastic fender to install the five small bolts attaching the metal air box to the body.
The pictures in the instructions were a little vague and I ended up popping out a couple of those plastic rivets and destroyed one or two of em.
Anyway, once I figure out how they came out I was able to save the others from destruction.
Overall, I thought the install was pretty simple and I am very happy with the added performance.
It took about 3 hours to do this install and I had the battery disconnected the whole time.
Do you guys recommend doing the ECM resets and others That Sticky has on
his list or should I keep going with whatever it has now?
Thanks for all your guys help and tips on this site. You have given me a lot of good ideas and answers to some of the things I had issue with.
I remember when I did one of my routine mx's and I was searching for the in-cabin microfilter, little did I know that my Titan KC SE did not have them.
Any way, I have since ordered them form Courtesy Nissan and installed.
Thanks again and I hope to put my 2 cents in to help if I can and appreciate all your help.
1st off, very nice thread you guys have going on here.
2nd, I where is the best place to order the AEM intake for my 07?
3rd, what is going on with the Dub intake, why is there 3 filters?

Looks like mirrored inside of the enclosure to me.

Believe it or not, I ordered mine from Advanced Auto. Since I am military, they gave me an additional 10% off. Total was $245 and I got it the next day!
You'll love it, especially if you have a dual exhaust. It adds depth to the sound and power to the ride!
