Also, in my experience with the magazines and manufacturers, a big factor(!! is also graded by test magazines!!) is internal noise at idle, WOT, etc...
These stock intakes and filter housings are designed to give best noise cancelation under normal driving conditions. The aftermarket CAI's are QUITE a bit louder as anyone who has them can attest to. Most people love it, but some manufacturers are louder than others. Check out some other threads on this and you'll here members talk about annoying sounds and vibrations at certain RPM's that they never had with the stock box.

Long story short: You DOOOOOOO gain HP; You WIIIIIILLLL hear it more, maybe to the annoying point for some.

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

Check this out. Interesting dollar per hp gain on aftermarket intake mods. I know of one guy with F150 who has had results just toooooooooo good to believe. My guess is he also had other problems that got resolved along with the installation of the vortec.

It's comes with a money back guarantee so I may try it after exhaust is installed. I like to do one mod at a time and check results.

Google vorteccyclone. boosthorsepower. I'm a newbie and not allowed to post a url.

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

just purchased the nismo. I was on the fence cause I wanted the injen but at 125 dollars cheaper the nismo won out. Did I make the right choice? will the injen actually get me a more significant gain for the money

Hey guys, i recently purchased the injen intake, It def. give's you more horsepower but also makes your truck quite a bit louder. You cant go wrong with it, im 100% happy with it (besides the price).

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

HOLY CRAP!! I just read all 14 pages and only found 1 post on MPG change. Does anyone know what these intakes do for MPG? Seems like they all add sound and HP, but I want to know what one makes the Best MPG gain. I have an 06 LE and I'm getting 15/16mpg. My old truck got 18/23(Ranger). Can you post up if you noticed a MPG gain, and if so, post it on the First page sticky?

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

i diddnt notice any mpg change with intake + tbs... the only time i notice an y kind of change is when i do less city driving ... other than that i get about 13 mpg mixed driving andf then on long trips i get about 17 mpg ... i also have a heavy foot.. some people on here have noticed mpg change though.....

oh yeah .. i currently have the KNOCK OFF AEM intake from EBAY..... but i just ordered the NEW VOLANT POWERCORE intake + ram air kit .. i have yet to reccive it .. but i will post any mpg and or any differences for that matter ..

http://www.volantpowercore.com/

here is a link to some pics of the new volant... it has a wide opening where the filter attaches to... there is some good info on this link since this guy has had the prior volant gen lll and now has the powercore.. he says its night and day ..and it feels better .. but again no mpg postings on it..

... just copy the link and take out the SPACES between the letters...

http://www. c l u b t i t a n .org/forums/showthread.php?t=41697&highlight=powercore

hope this helps

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

I'm seeing some references to S&B on this site. Why is it not in this list?

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

I just installed my S&B. It came on Saturday, I didnt expect that. I got it off ebay for $231 shipped. It was easy to install, took me about 20min, and I did the TB bypass in that time. Very nice sound. It is more quiet than my 06 F150 with the KnN FIPK intake. You really cant even hear it until you mash the gas.
