Has anyone tried finishing the seal on the brute force. I would like to see if that can be done before I make a decision. It seems to me that the big hole there would just let engine compartment air in.
Hey fellas, figured I'd wait until I actually started implementing some mods before posting.
I paired the Injen CAI with the Gibson exhaust, and the difference is massive. I researched this site thouroughly, as well as those of the manufacturers, and this combo was what I was happiest with. There is a little drain on the low end, but that'll be taken care of with the UpRev.
Thanks for all the info on this site, guys. You've helped me plan out the next 10k for this truck.

choose the aem because of the dry filter. my 05 don't like oil filters engine check come on switch to aem brute dry filter. wish they could inclose the box reduce heat the south is very hott!!!!
I am not really looking for a performance increace, mainly better fuel mpg.
Can any one confirm increase in fuel economy with any of these kits. THX
I have the K&N air intake, and it really made a noticeable difference, but it seems to have killed my gas mileage. I thought it would help it, but it really hasn't at all.

I just put the volant stage 3 on my 08 pro-4x and see no problems. It is loud about 3300 and up but with the Helix style 1" TBS on it I see a noticable improvement in the 2500-4500 range and milage is up about 3 mpg. If you want quiet the Volent is NOT for you but I love the performance it seems to bring out with the TBS and a 40 series flowmaster
I put on the AEM brute force a while ago. Like others have said, only loud if you get on it, although i did make my stock exhaust about twice as loud (but i like that). It does drone more though. Also lost about 30 miles per fill up (320 miles instead of 350) (and i dont even get on it, ive actually been granny-ing the throttle for about 2 months trying to get MORE mileage. The intake just made it a bit worse[had it on for about a month])
I installed my Ingen CAI on my 08 KC Pro-4x this morning. Everything was pretty simple and just as the directions indicate. The only thing I did that was a little different was I removed the rubber grommet from the front stud that holds the OEM CAI down, and stacked it on the middle stud. After I installed the Injen I noticed that if I shook the CAI a little it was tapping on the stud. With the second grommet on the stud it is pretty tight with almost no movement.
I put over 100 miles on my truck today after the install and I am very happy so far.
Yes it has a little more noise than stock, but not much. Running around town I can turn my stereo volume to 4 or 5 (which is pretty low) and I can not hear the CAI over the music. On the interstate it is audible if you get on it to pass. Cruising at 80 I could hardly tell any difference. Punch it at 60 and you can definitely hear the difference over the stock unit.
I was worried the CAI might be too loud after hearing some of the other brands, but it is not. No whistling sounds or other high pitched air noises like some of the others. The sound when you put your foot in it is actually a deep tone.
My JBA will be going on soon, but I wanted to run the truck with just the Injen CAI to get feel for it before I did the exhaust.
I suppose the first step to mod installs on my truck should be CAI and Headers theres a fast $1K
I like what I am reading about the injen intake and the JBA Headers. Anyone have suggestions on the exhaust system for Oklahoma? Remove the cats? Magnaflow? Dump the exhaust in front of the rear axle? 3" / 2-1/2" exhaust pipes? some of you experienced Titan owners let me know..
I have no mods and am definetly going to start. If anyone has suggestions on what should come first or should come next let me know. I'd like to up-grade just about everything on it. Maybe I should buy another 04' Crew just so I can pull everything off after I put 200K miles on this one and install on the next one.
Guys,
I called Airraid because I noticed they do Modular Intake Tubes for alot of vehicles and was interested in replacing the one's in my new Pro-4x and the wife's new Armada, with a TrueFlow or Amsoil drop in replacement filter for $50. You can also use a sleeve of 4" pipe insulation for $5 to wrap the intake tube to reduce the temperature.
Anyways, you'll never guess what Airraid said...
Quote:
Hello William,
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not offer a replacement intake tube for the Nissan Titan/ Armada. We had done some testing with an MIT tube and found there was no performance gain over the stock tube. We did not want to raise the price of the kit and offer a product that would not be beneficial to performance. The stock tube was sufficient and produced the same power. If you have any further questions please contact me. Thank you

Also, for you guys that operate in dusty climates with oiled or dry gauze filters like the K&N, AEM, and Airraids; you are letting in much larger particles when compared to closed cell foam filters like the Amsoil or TrueFlow replacements which filter MUCH better and still allow around 97% efficiency....
I've done the comparos and wasted money on my previous PowerStroke Super Duty and in my Rubicon......The difference is very clear(no pun intended) when you do an oil change.....
LESSON:
The biggest source of power gain is due to the efficiency of the filter itself and
by wrapping your intake tube to segregate the air temp inside the tube!
TBS are the biggest waste of metal resources and money!!!
THINK:
How many race cars in any motorsport have TBS's on their motors????
