Put me down as one of the few, the proud, the Volant PowerCore owners.
The Few: Volant only shipped 25 of these before they realized they had a problem and stopped shipping any further orders.
The Proud: The install was not without danger. If you installed it without engaging your brain you could had destroyed your engine. The inside of the intake tube was filthy with plastic shavings. The air box didn't fit very well between the washer fluid reservoir and the brake components.
yes i love mine! just got one of the NEW IMPROVED versions of the POWERCORE .. fits nicely ... felt a difference over the knock off AEM version ...
here is a link with pics before & after (aem knock off to volant powercore)

Guys,
I called Airraid because I noticed they do Modular Intake Tubes for alot of vehicles and was interested in replacing the one's in my new Pro-4x and the wife's new Armada, with a TrueFlow or Amsoil drop in replacement filter for $50. You can also use a sleeve of 4" pipe insulation for $5 to wrap the intake tube to reduce the temperature.
Anyways, you'll never guess what Airraid said...
Also, for you guys that operate in dusty climates with oiled or dry gauze filters like the K&N, AEM, and Airraids; you are letting in much larger particles when compared to closed cell foam filters like the Amsoil or TrueFlow replacements which filter MUCH better and still allow around 97% efficiency....
I've done the comparos and wasted money on my previous PowerStroke Super Duty and in my Rubicon......The difference is very clear(no pun intended) when you do an oil change.....
LESSON:
The biggest source of power gain is due to the efficiency of the filter itself and
by wrapping your intake tube to segregate the air temp inside the tube!
TBS are the biggest waste of metal resources and money!!!
THINK:
How many race cars in any motorsport have TBS's on their motors????
Is that just true for the 2008 models? Is the intake runner/tube the same as the 2004's?
I got the volant, I cant complain one bit. It sounds great and runs even better. I noticed a substantial gain in both power and response. Great intake for the money. The injen may be better but hp for dollar the volant is top notch.
I've got the AEM Brute Force. Freakin love it! Great sound, slight whistle, but what I didn't expect was it helping out my fuel economy 2-3 mpg. Just after I installed it, the first two tanks I ran around 19.5 mpg; about 10,000 miles later I'm averaging 17.5-18 mpg. I have seen a drop over the summer in the South Georgia heat though!
i got my AEM for 261 at gripmotorsports.com....try autoanything.com as well, they are usually pretty cheap
I get coupons from Authoanything.com at least 1x per week. Their exclusion on the * is basically 100% of everything they sell. I would have bought my Bullydog from them and my Undercover, but their coupons excluded them. (as well as other things).

ya baby.....it's got it all..
I see a lot of people stressing out about oiled filters. Short answer: any oiled filter is not going to foul your maf the way that it comes. The problem is when people re-oil their filters and they SOAK the filter in oil. Simple solution: use the colored oil provided by quality providers like K&N, not the knock offs, and when you spray the oil on, take care to notice that it is going on evenly and not in excess.
I've been running oiled filters on various cars for years and have never, not once, had an issue.

Here's my truck and an angry little force-fed 4-banger:
Is the Injen CARB legal? Also, is the Magnum force CARB legal?
I'm basically down to those two with the K&N being a close third. I just don't like the look of the AEM and the dry filter doesn't appeal to me. So between the Injen and the Magnum Force what would people prefer, if money was not an issue?

definately the injen...if i ever went to an oiled filter i would go with the injen...i actually wanna buy one just to try it out on this truck....they make great products, but i've heard their customer service sucks
