how did u make the ram air? and i have heard of drilling a hole for the diff. breather tube to be inside the airbox, does that help?

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

not sure about the diff breather tube, but i would be interested in what it is if it would help me out....in order for my ram-air to work i had to take out the washer fluid resovior...some people just relocated theirs to a different place, i just left mine out....with that out you have to take off the front grill and remove the black plastic (not the actual grille) piece behind the ctock grill (just a few little clips....then take a drill with a 3" or 4" hole culler and cut into the AEM heatshield, then run a PVC tube from the opening in the heatshield down and out to right behind the front grill....all you need is 2 3" or 4" pvc elbows, makes an S shape

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

AEM Brute Force is on the way... got it for $290 w/ shipping insurance and a set of HID headlamps thrown in. Picked up the heatwrap today at the store. I called Nissan, just so everyone knows, oficially, no intake system will void a warranty except the MAF will not be warranted anymore. The rest of any warranties are still valid, unless a seal is bad and something falls off causing whatever damage. Thats it. AND, the nissan dealership here in Lubbock Texas is doing the 2* timing advance for free on wednesday.

I will try and get some dyno numbers with the advance and wrapped intake asap.

I don't think you would want your differential breather tube inside your air intake box. There is a fair amount of vacuum inside the air box. Would it be enough to suck differential fluid out of the differential? Probably not but I wouldn't take that chance. The OEM airbox has a bracket on the outside for the breather tube to attach to but the tuble does not go inside the box.

i read an article on some website that showed the install of the AEM and the guy said to do that, thats why i was asking. he said the vacuum of the airbox would help it breathe?? i dont think im gonna do it because its not that way from the factory and i value my factory warranty. my last truck, dakota r/t, had about 20k in aftermarket mods and started to break down often and all the warranties were waaaay voided.

p.s. i think we have nearly the same truck except mine is an '06

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

I drove out to California immediately after installing my Injen. I noticed a drop in mpg from 18.5 that I usually get on the freeway to 16.5. The following tank, I got 16.5 again on all city driving, when I usually get 13 or so. This last tank I'm getting horrible mileage.

I think the universal response will be that your mileage could go up, but won't since you are going to drive more aggressively.

The idle sound of the Injen is soft, like stock. When you get on it, there is a noticeable WWWWOOOO but it's not deafening.

I have pictures but they are apparently too big.

I was told by the dealer that the 09 titans have better gas mileage and performance with the stock than with aftermarket. they apparently upgraded the stock intake for the 09's. he also told me it hurts the hp going to aftermarket. maybe think about doing a k&n drop in filter but if what he said was true then u should put the money into exhaust or programming.

Re: Air Intake Systems [list and poll]

just installed an S&B cai for the 04-06 model and i have a 08.5 FFV SE and the intake fits perfectly and only took about half hour to install.

haven't check mpg yet, but the intake sound is noticeable over 2500, it provides a deep tone. there is better throttle response and provides noticeable power thru the power band. A ram air setup would def help out too, you could probably use existing parts off the OEM intake to make a ram air into the fog light.

I don't get the whistling or rattling from the S&B as some of the intakes i've read about on here.

overall the S&B intake was cheaper than other intakes on the ''poll'' list and imo looks factory minus the clear shield.
