I'm kinda doubting this "MAF" sensor getting oil on it and making it malfunction....... How much oil are people putting on their filters to get oil on the heated coils of the MAF to make it malfunction?
All in all, I would think a lubricated surface (oilded) intake filter would have less restriction than ANY dry setup thus making more HP. An easy way to test this would be putting a dry filter and a oiled filter on the same intake pipe and testing the diffence. I'd just like to hear someone who has had a MAF sensor go out or had problems with the oiled filters.
That aside., If anyone is in the Sacramento, Northern California area I would be willing to offer some free Dyno testing on a Dynojet 248c Dyno and test some different intakes head to head.
I just bought an 06 4x4 cc LE and am always wanting to get the real results.
if anyone is interested go ahead and post here.
Since Volant doesn't have any posted Dyno graphs, I'm going to contact
them and see if they can send me up an intake and see if its what they claim.
Anyway, good thread, I'd like to see a ram air setup off a hood scoop on the drivers side, that would be fun!

Although the HP increases are impressive to say the least, I am really wanting to know the HP increase AND gas mileage increase... I am not going to race my Titan, but am really feeling the pinch when hauling my boat on dive trips....
I am going to upgrade the intake, but again, can anyone tell me the best for mileage increase?

I havta agree with you on the MAF "myth". The person who has issue with oil messing the MAF up is the idiot who saturated the filter or didn't let it properly "saturate" itself, as in the re-oil instructions. I have the Volant V3 w/ blue oiled filter, factory oiled, for the past 6000 miles, no visual signs of oil being sucked into my intake tube. Per the instructions for care of filter, clean (aka: knock debris loose) every so often (3k or so), and fully clean w/ degreaser solution and re-oil after 15k, or as needed depending on your travel habits (aka: desert, dirt roads, ranch, etc...)

My Injen CAI improved the mileage on my truck by a min of 1 MPG. The reason I say this is that the best mileage I have gotten with my truck prior to the CAI install was 13.8 with 2 dirt bikes in the truck, 2 guys and related gear. I just drove to Idaho from Nor. California pulling 3 bikes on a trailer loaded for 1.5 weeks of tent camping and dirt biking. I even loaded up my gas grill after cutting out the stake holes on the bed rails and building side rails so I could stack the load of crap I was hauling. I ended the trip getting 14.5 MPG on my 1800 mile round trip. It's still going to take a while to get my money back out of the CAI's price tag, but it's easier to sell "better fuel mileage" to my wife than "it makes a little more power and sounds cool!"
You also left off the Option Racing intake which is a clone of the AEM, runs around $80 on ebay. You can use the dry filters from Aem or fram if you want.
has anyone here ver used one of these
the AIR MAX .... it looks cool but i wonder if it really works also do yall think its a total seal from the hot engine air i cant really tell form the pics.
This is my first post here on the Forum and I am looking forward to the responses.
I am deciding between the AEM Brute Force and a Stillen (STI) CAI for my 04 Titan. I was wondering if there was anything obvious that would help me to make up my mind.??...
Service Tech says Stillen CAI is better for the Air Sensor, but positive posts about AEM have me wondering if that might be a better option.
Please chime in and let me know thoughts and opinions.
I just installed the Banks exhaust last month and now I am going to see what opening up the "breathing" a little more will do. Thanks for the help.

Actually, if anything the AEM would be better for your MAF. It uses a dry flow filter. I've never had any issues using oiled filters, but just some food for thought.
