Volant gen. 3?

I'm sorry, I'm sure this has been covered already, but I was wondering if anyone has the volant generation 3 intake box? I just got off the phone with them about (still) having issues with my intake box and they told me that they are going to send me the new g-3 box all I have to do is pay for the new lid which is like $30, no prob for me. I just wanted to know if anyone has seen/used this new box and if my nightmare may soon be over.

You pay for the intake and then they want more money to make it right. One reason I have held off on the Volant. I will wait for version XXXII and maybe it will fit. Why should you pay more?

I think I'm the only one on the planet with a Gen-3 Volant. Here's a couple pics showing the kit and the new lid (received later). The air box and tube were both remolded due to fitment issues. I also made my own aluminum lid which I like better than the Volant one because it's thicker and lays flatter.

Yes, I have the AFE now and will probably sell the Volant, although I've made some mods to it. I've heard the new Volants are finally ready for shipping, but seeing is believing, as Volant needed to unload all the previous stock before releasing the V3's.

I have the initial Volant intake and it was a piece of poop. I would not buy anything from them again! I have called and email them to get a replacement and they nver get back to me. Good luck!

My experience has been the opposite of casique's. I found Joe at Volant to be great to work with and my gen 2 has been trouble free.

casique: I have put a message into joe on your behalf.

I agree...Joe has always been great with me, too...but yes, he can be tough to get a hold of since he's the GM of the company. Phone contact has always been the most successful for me. It is too bad they've had so many fitment issues with the Titan kit, but they are still the only company I know of making a true CAI, which makes fitment issues more probable.

yeah me three Joe has alwasy taken care of me and my volant issues--he gets a A+++ as far as Im concerned ive never had a GM email me as many times as dude has over that last few months

I was waiting on ver 3, as I personally prefer the sealed box

although the AFE intrigues since rocky mountain has had both hmmmmm

the only stopping me is that the open box metal enclosure style (ala the AEM I have installed right now) seems like it doesnt really stopp the cold/hot heat transfer very well

may I ask how you install the AFE??

Well, the Volant maybe 100% sealed like the factory box, but IMHO it doesn't make a difference and with all the fitment issues I think I'll hang on to the Nismo until they get the wrinkles ironed out.

I am not so sure it does seal 100%. I get a little vibration at ~3000rpms, and after checking out the box and tube, it seems the lid doesnt seal well on the sides. I think it could let air into the box as there is a small gap. Volant needs to add additional screws to the sides or a stiffer material on the lid (like what Rocky did).

There are no fitment or sealing issues with the Generation 3 Volant.

Just get you a strip of closed cell foam insulation with sticky on one side. That should fix any sealnt issues with that top. Can the V3 be bought yet?
