What mods should I consider?

I have a stock '05 4x4 CC SE, Big Tow Titan.

Let me start by saying that I have no interest in my 1/4 mile time, a loud exhaust or anything else that would draw additional attention to the vehicle. I rarely go over 3000-3500 rpm and when I do it is usually when I am towing my camper and the tranny downshifts to get me up a hill.

I guess that I am looking for a little more low end torque and possibly a little better gas mileage.

Any suggestions?

A more useful reply...

GO with a cold air intake. Good brands are K&N, Volant, NISMO, and Advanced Flow Engineering. You'll get some more power but at least consider a freer flowing exhaust. There are some out there that help the engine put out more power that aren't too loud. Gibson emphasizes efficiency over loud exhaust note. There is one power tuning chip out there but I've heard it's not what it's cracked up to be and it's expensive.

I know you got a 4x4 but it sounds like you probably don't go mudding or rock climbing. So I say...Hellwig Swaybar. Best overall bang for the buck. $175 delivered. Greatly helps with body roll in everyday driving and will definately help when towing that camper.

for quiet I suppose you could have someone port and polish the heads... not sure how good the stock flow is. but coupled with an intake and maybe gasp an airraid throttle body spacer. you'll have semi-quiet and better low end. from the dyno's I believe the aFe stage 2 intake has the best low rpm power of the intakes I've seen. intakes aren't too loud like exhaust either.

Short answer:

There are two mods out for performance right now. Intake & exhaust.

There's also a throttle body spacer (iffy gains) and a supercharger but I don't really think either is relavant. You're best option is to go with an intake and a quiet exhaust like the gibson single side.

Intake and exhaust made a big difference for me. Exhaust is very subjective and all up to you. Listen to a couple exhaust sound clips to get an idea of the loudness you're looking for. These two mods definitely helps the engine breathe much better.
