I got the Nismo because it was $232 from Mossy and is technically factory Nissan.

I didn't vote. I had a Volant but was unhappy with it. It was waaaaay too loud. Plus I actually lost low end torque and mileage. I would stay with the stock and just do a K&N drop-in. That's my vote.

CAI?? They all are. Just because it is not 100% sealed from the engine bay does not make it non "CAI". I've seen and participated in a number of experiments that show the under hood air does not get hot like you would think it does, the air circulates extremely well once you begain to move. Also since the main area of intake is still from the hole in the fender and the air is ducted to an extent you still get as cool of air as the OEM. Actually, the biggest difference in air charge temp would probably come from a drier vent or PVC sewer pipe ram air set up. I hear from experienced Mustang drivers that these ram air intakes with inlets below the bumper are really good for sucking up candy wrappers

WindsorFox I'm in the same boat as you. I have the money for my intake/exhaust but which one????? Thanks for starting the poll. I'm leaning toward the NISMO since it is technically factory Nissan and the AEM, Nismo and F5air intakes (by looks and posted dynos) seem to be almost the same. I'm still considering the AFE. Price probably will make the decision for me. I've read too many posts about people not liking their Volant to continue considering it. The K&N has the "wet" oiled filters that can cause MAF/MAS malfunction if over oiled (as converse dirt gets by if you don't apply enough and evenly to the entire filter [i.e. too much to worry about and what can go wrong probably will]).
My experience with ram air/scoops; I have a homemade scoop on my '03 Maxima w/ a modified stock box & K&N drop in that sucks air from low on the bumper. At first I thought it really wasn't doing much but after a few weeks I checked the filter and it sucked up so much road debris I had to put a screen in the end of it to keep out the wrappers and leafs. I have a MAC CAI that has the filter in the fender well (also where our Titan draws air from) on my '99 Mustang GT and never had an issue with it sucking up debris. Also with intakes that sit low off the ground you have to be careful not to park/drive through deep/semi deep puddles of water so it dosen't get sucked into your engine.

I think the reason I got the AEM initially was because of the dryflow filter.

What happens when you are at idle in 95 degree heat with 80% humidity sitting in bumper to bumper traffic?

If it's not sealed, it's not a CAI.

If you are idling, it doesn't matter. The power gaincomes from less restiction. And I have news for you, when you are idleing in traffic, in 95+ degree heat, the airtemp in the fender isn't more than 5 degrees less anyway. It IS a cold air intake since the main opening is in the fender and the airbox is sealed against the hood. I would bet they all make the same amount of difference anyway, you are not going to get 22 HP like the ads say.

Just get one you like, when you post a poll you're gonna get more confused after all the answer. Most people swear by the one they have, unfortunately not many have the chance to run ALL intake in one truck to tell the difference. I was in the same boat at one time trying to decide, finaally settle on the AEM because of the dryflow (use no oil).
