Thumbs up Zoomers, AFE stage II combo

I got my AFE stage II CAI on, on Thursday and was very surprised at how loud it was at WOT. This thing sounds like a big block with the air cleaner lid flipped with an added hiss. With regular driving it only had a small increase in sound but it is louder than stock.. The truck seemed to pull harder in the mid rpm range though to the higher rpms.
On Friday the Zoomers cat back went on, and again I was surprised at how loud it was, on start up, accelerating around town, and WOT. I’ve got a friend with the JBA on, and I drove a truck my dealer had installed a Flowmaster 70 series dual out on, and my truck with the AFE and Zoomers is louder, but they don’t have CAIs. The other 2 trucks have a bark kind of a sound, or a higher pitch to them, that’s always there, compared to the Zoomers, AFE. I have this DEEP LOW DOWN GROWL that to me is louder with any kind of acceleration at all. But once you’re up to speed and are no longer accelerating all goes quiet, there is no drone, I think the truck may even been quieter than stock when your at cruising speed.
Last night I reset my ECU by way of disconnecting the battery over night. I could not get it to work via the gas pedal way. This had a great effect on throttle response, before the mods I could never just mash the gas and go, I had to feather the gas for the fastest acceleration. Now I turn off the VDC and just stomp on the gas, I get a small burn out, and away I go. The burn out is about the same as the video on the Zoomers web site. I don’t know for sure, but I think the truck is MUCH quicker to 60, but that may be all the new sounds playing tricks on me.
The Zoomers are by no means a quiet exhaust when accelerating, but the tone is very low, aggressive, and kind of a grown up big block sound.
That’s my take on the Zoomers, AFE stage II combo. If I had it to do all over again I would have put the Zoomers on 1st and drove it for a week or so before the CAI, just to get a better feel for the sound of the Zoomers on there own.
Thanks Zoomers, and AFE for the big new grin I get from the new sound and performance of my truck!!!

HighDesertBum,
Yours is the Truck in the Zoomers video right?
Mine is definitely lower and louder than the truck in the video.
I think you'll really like it with the CAI.

No, I think that was Yomama. Nice vid, huh? IF I am not mistaken, I think he was one of the first to go with the zoomers.

There are some of mine in there... I made videos from inside of the cab though. If you think about it, you're buying something that touts "drone free" and there wasn't a video produced from within the cab... Didn't make much sense to me.

Huh? Part of my video was driving in the truck. Did you watch it all?

I guess he didn't. Your vid was really insightful. Just what I was looking for in an exhaust.

Thanks again,

I should say that the low end was there a little more before I added the AEM brute force intake, that made it louder too when you get up around 3000 RPM, sounds like the old school 4 barrel carb with the air intake cover flipped over. I Love that sound....

I may have read it but I don't remember you saying if wheather you did or did not do a ECU reset when you put the mods in. If so, did it help?

Of course I did... And if you're speaking of the 5 second blur of driving inside the cab where you can't even see what RPMs you're running and all you hear is your blinker, than sure, you did...

Any way, I was speaking of on the Zoomer's website. Don't need to get your panties all in a bunch, jeez...

Yeah, I've seen that one too. Not bad. It sounded like you had video of yours. If you do, I'd like to check it out, post it if you got it. Oh, I don't wear panties, I am a Hanes Man myself.
