An additional info I've found: there is a 3% HP loss for every 20 degree F increase in ambient air temperature. So if this is prevented or better yet reversed so the air intake is 20 degrees cooler, a 278 HP Titan can (possibly) gain 8.34 horses instead of losing them. Is this math right? This does not take into account the positive pressure of the "ram" effect forced into the box (unmeasurable unless in motion).

This has a lite spring and will open from the weight of the water.

The arrow goes to the side your air box, ram air will keep it closed.

A small looped tube 3' long out the buttom will allow the water to drain.

Curious to know if you got the replacement washer resivoir done.
UPDATE:
I've found a "coolant reservoir" for $12 from R/S Strauss. I used this for the windshield washer reservoir after some minor fitting work. I removed the OE fittings from the OE windshield reservoir and using the original holes as templates, I perforated the "R/S reservoir" with the exact dimensions and relocating the pump and the fluid level sensor was very easy.

Now, I can see!!!! LOL

Here's some pics. I just have to find a way to make that "cheap red cover" look a bit presentable.

You have to leave your "Super-Charged" Titan with me for a week (maybe longer) so I can do the mold

But first you must leave it here in CT for two days, then take it to gr8titan!

Re: "Ram Air" without hood/fender body work

Is there any reason that the sealed box wouldn't work for a non-sealed intake such as AEM . k&N ..etc? I like the idea but already have an intake (AEM).

I don't think the OE box is large enough to accomodate the larger "cone filters". However, with creativity, anything is possible.

Remember, we are looking for frontal (grill area) air directly into a sealed air box for "ram air effect"

I dont know anything about dry ice but if while at the track you droped a small chunk in the sealed box what effec it would have?

Re: "Ram Air" without hood/fender body work

Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide. When it "melts" it goes directly back to its gaseous form CO2 gas. This is heavier than air and does not act like pure oxygen. In fact, CO2 gas is what is used in fire extinguishers. Also the heat of the engine and the dry ice sitting on you plastic intake box/ filter make it go snap! So in closing, you probably go slower and then your airbox would crack.

Sorry, I am a scientist and I have to geek out on occasion.

Re: "Ram Air" without hood/fender body work

question: it looks like you fabricated an entirely new box. Could you have just used the volant box and cut a hole in the front with a tube to the hole you cut in the rad. support area?

Yes, I could have done that but there will be a little problem.
This project requires the removal/relocation of the "windshield washer fluid reservoir" and of course, it needs to be moved somewhere. By moving the custom box forward, a space is created behind it for the relocated reservoir. Besides, I wanted to use every available space for the custom box.

Re: "Ram Air" without hood/fender body work

ok. theres plenty of room under the hood of a titan for a relocated washer reservoir. But at least you have a nicer and bigger air box
