Custom Zoomer Dual Exhaust?

I'm researching my options on what type of Exhaust to put on my new Titan, with emphasis on appearance / growl / quietness / drone. I like everything I've read about the Borla except for the fact that the tips are straight-back rather than behind the rear tires. Could this setup work with a Zoomer muffler and two Zoomer tips? (Or maybe 4 tips?) If so, how?

TIA.

Are you looking for a dual out Zoomer's exhaust? If so, it's gonna cost you a bunch and no guarantee of being drone free. I was looking at doing the same thing, and talked to the guy from Zoomers about it. The cost was sky high, and he couldn't promise no drone.

Not to sound stupid, but why would the cost be sky high? I was thinking about doing it one of two ways:
  1. Buying the Zoomer's Titan kit and just buying an extra tip along with the necessary pipe. (~$1000)
  2. Buying two kits and making a cat-back that looks similar to the Dodge Charger (~$1400)
As for the drone, why would the second option create it if the Charger setup doesn't have it?

Okay, $1000 is sky high to me, clearly we have differing opinions on that. As for the drone, I'm not saying it would cause drone, what I am saying is that it can't be guaranteed by Zoomers because it would a custom set up done by you. But keep in mind drone is the exhaust resonating at a certain frequency determined by RPM and pipe length. So that added length of pipe to make it into a dual exit system could induce drone.

When you said sky high, I was expecting Stillen Supercharger prices. I have a feeling that the dual exhaust would only add a foot or so since the horizontal pipe would practically reach across the bottom of the cabin to the back tire. I could do some measurement...

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Zoomer's muffler is pretty long. So there isn't much room behind it to make a split, or were you looking to run two seperate mufflers?

Item #2 is a true dual exhaust with dual mufflers.

Humm...I was talking to a friend of mine today about exhaust systems. He told me about a test that was done on Mustangs and different exhaust sysems. Bottom line they found NO measurable h.p. gain difference from the most expensive to the least expensive. So, I guess the are all pretty much the same performance wise but, I think what comes to play is how easy it is to install and maybe the sound you like.
Personally I think I am going with JBA ceramic coated headers and maybe the catback exhaust system or have one custom made.

I think you'd be better off skipping the headers. They aren't full length, and haven't proved to provide any performance gains. Not to mention that you have to hack up your oem pipes and weld them to it.

After getting your responses and seeing Finnatic's setup (http://<thecluboftitans>/postt1822.html), I think I'll head the route Aperformance suggested:
Quote:
We probably won't make a true dual system because of cost factor... Our current single side exit works so well and the sales have been so awsome I don't think well change it anytime soon. If your looking for duals out each side any Muffler shop can fab up a Y and two tail pipes to get you a dual look. All you'd need is an extra tip @ $130 and our system @ $699.00 and just not use our 3" tail pipe. I couldn't be certain if there is enough room because i've never attempted it.

cswake,

Unless you're just stuck on a stainless system, find a good, local muffler shop. These guys can custom bend your system to exit anywhere you want and do it way cheaper. Also you may get the opportunity to try different mufflers to do sound. I was talking to my exhaust guy the other day about putting duals on my new cc titan and he said no problem. I don't like how most systems that come out the side exit way back by the bumper, I want them tucked a little closer to the wheel well and he'll make them come out anywhere I want. He also has several mufflers he uses as "test" models. He'll clamp 'em on and let you hear how a few different mufflers will sound on your truck before laying down the $$$ and welding them up. He gave me an estimate of around 200 bucks for the parts (tubes, mufflers, hangers, and tips) and about the same for the install for a total system of around 400 bucks installed and ready to go, with any "specifics" I want applied to exit area, etc. Gotta love the guy, he's done every vehicle I've owned when it comes to changing/repairing exhaust. just my 2 cents.
