Re: TruTrac locker for the Titan?

so any dana70 diffs that have the same bolt pattern for the ring gear should work?

ogm, can't believe now it's fudging up the splines... so they're paying for the new axle?

NO, Denny's breakfast is expensive also but not 37.50 and frieght was barge... so I doubt 300. he paid cost I think is what he's saying.

Re: TruTrac locker for the Titan?

-QUESTION- Is there any type of stress on the differential when I mash the gas after it rains and the slip light pops up and power is gettin bounced around from left wheel to right wheel? That can't be good for it. You can feel it from a stop with some wet and dry patches. Slips, brake, next wheel hooks up, take off, start slipping again, brake, next wheel. It feels bad. I think the Abls is killing the rear ends. THis isnt just in the rain, its just an example. Anybody else agree?

Phoebisis has been collecting info posted here on failed differentials. I think most of them involve the E-locker, although many involve non-locking 4x4 with the Big Tow gearing. I would agree that shock loading resulting from repetitive loss of traction, followed by a sudden regain of traction is bad for differentials. For example, it is very bad to mash the throttle when going around 90 degree corners, causing wheel hop. Slip-grip-slip shock loads are well known to break spider gears. Interestingly, there are few (if any) posts regarding failures with 2WD 2.94 rear axles.

I picked up a extra axle assy for free that has a locker solonoid problem and we will use this diff assy to build with the tru-trac (once the side gear issue is fixed) and i will just swap the whole thing out and keep my good stock axle for a backup.....

Are titan owners rears going while the E-lock is engaged? I didn't think that was the problem. Or do you just mean diffs with the E-locker? I had a differential go on an '04 with a big tow and off-road with the E-locker. Happend at about 12,000 miles, but I brought up my question because I was laying wheel in the snow and sometimes one wheel would contact the pavement and what not. I knew there was a problem though and was just trying to finish the rear end off. JOb well done I guess. Anyway I'm in an '05 now with the E-locker and only 8,000 miles. I dont spin the wheels on this one intentionaly, but I'd like too.

Re: TruTrac locker for the Titan?

NO, I never used my e-lock. look in the polls or runa search under rear diff.

04DRunner - I have my trutrac but would like a little more info on if it's going to fudge my spline if I have it installed? I wanted it so I wouldn't have problems with the spider gears but don't want a different problem lol. Thanks,

T

If you have it ,,, the first thing you need to do is take 1 axle out and make sure it slides into the side gear on the tru-trac all the way... my axle only went in about 1/16" ......

If the axles slide in with no problem you are golden,,,,,,,,,,,,it will not hurt your axles if they fit ,,,,,,,,,,,,

mine was completely installed back lash set and then they found out axles did not fit,,,

on a side note,,, detroit called me and he has this as a top priority,,,,
he said they have had a few other calls and wants this fixed asap.........

Kind of makes you wonder about how much R&D was actually done.
