TruTrac locker for the Titan?

Anyone know anything about it? Its not out yet, but I ordered one early, as it'll replace the spider gear in my 05 OR package. After breaking one, I don't want my truck to feel unsafe anymore... They aren't even going to be available for the Titan for another few weeks. So that means by the time it comes outta the shop, it'll go back to the gear guys for a LSD/part time locker.

I'm hoping its the Detroit one, when the shop owner lets me know more info I'll post it. I'm hoping someone besides NISSAN (who better recall these eventually) can give a real fix to broken spider gears until then.

later all,

T

Haven't been hearing anything about these broken spider gears. I am not off-road very much. Should I worry? Should I be looking aftermarket?

Detroit Locker was pleased to attend the first ever Off-Road Impact show in Las Vegas. Serious off roaders love to talk traction - and we have plenty to talk about. Our two Detroit Locker Nissan project vehicles were a huge hit with the trail and rock crawling crowd. It's always fun to trade stories and hear from the people who run our traction products.

found that on the Detroit website... surely you don't need two "Detroit Nissan Project Vehicles" to test just one new product. Should be a few things coming soon!! I would hold out for the Detroit E-Locker!!

The FourWheeler project truck has a Dana 60 from Dynatrac. When I contacted Dynatrac, they told me $6,000 for the rear, but they couldn't match the gears in the front differential. Hopefully the Detroit Locker folks have something else in mind.

dynatrac told me 3500 for the rear 6500 for the front solid. I just don't want something else dying on my truck after dumping 12grand into it. IT BETTER NOT, if I do a solid and it broke, I'd shoot myself in the little toe... lol.

I ordered it from a local 4x4 shop who called his gear guys in the continental who called around and I believe it is the Detroit Tru Trac LSD and the other vehicle is a Frontier I believe. It was almost $700 for the LSD and whatever install is going to run... I might cancel my order and buy it myself LOL. Farkin 100% markup. I better be getting some type of warranty on it for that price... I'll call them again today to see what other info I can get on it. Besides the fact that it isn't even out yet. He told me a few weeks.

They are the rear end and rear diff failure part that breaks. SO I want to replace it so it NEVER happens to me again. I'm just wondering how sturdy it'll be. A few people have told me my tranny or something else would break 1st. BUT people who know gears know the spider is the biggest gear in a car in the 1st place and shouldn't EXPLODE!!! I've seen a pic of someone elses, and I'm going to attempt to get my pieces to keep. Don't think they'll give it to me though.

ONE More. Does anyone know the spline count, ring and pinon size and gearing ratio in out rear or front? anything that could help me out would be great. I'm even considering asking this guy how much one of these would be. Noticed the 700+hp torque guys don't have problems with them and recommend them over Tru Trac's and other diffs http://dpiracingproducts.com/product...=Differentials but I need to know if one will fit and the spline count and such. Thanks guys,

T

Actually the spyder gears are the weak link in many rear ends...A true Detroit Locker replaces the spyder gears, adding strength to any rear end it is installed into.

wouldn't a Tru Trac do the same thing as a true Detroit locker? It replaces the spider I believe? Thanks,

Yes it does, and is also strong....and very smooth in operation.

If I had my choice, it would be the E-Locker, it's a LSD all the time, and can be locked up when needed to.

one more problem I'm wondering about is in FourWheeler they said a bolt heads sheared off. That isn't supposed to happen with grade 8 bolts I don't think. And is that in the spider or Ring and Pinion? I'd really like to replace it with a grade 8 bolt to be safe...
