Catalytic Converters required?

Has anyone gutted the catalytic converter on there Titan? I tried it on my previous ford and the results were amazing. WV doesn't require an emissions test for inpection. The only thing that concerns me are possible computer problems.

If you have a 4x2, you have 2 cats. If you have a 4x4, you have 4. People have removed 2 of the cats on the 4x4 with sucessful results (no codes). As for removing all, I'm not sure.

You could do it but you will get an SES light. You would need to use 02 simms to trick the ECU into thinking the 02 sensors are getting the correct after cat readings.

I believed they removed the downstream cats (the later ones) which do not have O2 sensors. Maybe I'm mistaken though, searching should reveal a few threads about people who have done this. Most of them replace with resonators.

O2 simulators are an electronic device which sends a signal to the ECU where your O2 sensor would have been. They are pricey, but you can pick them up on Summit Racing or Jegs or any other performance shop.

02 simms shouldn't be that expensive. About $25 a piece or so.

Remove the "downstream secondary" or rear-cats on a 4x4. No ECU problems. I've replaced them with "straight thru resonators" and no regrets. Click on my links below my SIG for install/fabrication pics.

Why not gut the factory cats and reinstall the empty chamber?

He suggested that in one of his earlier threads about his exhaust.
