well its done

i went to the muffler shop today and replaced my 70 series flo for 2-40 series.let me tell any of you who will not believe this but there is absolutly no drone at any idle.and i mean none at all.i dont know if it had to do with having 2 mufflers instead of one but it took all the dron i really mean all of it.my 70 series had it betwen 1500 to 1800.gone no more.my wife was upset at me because she said the 70 series drone was bad enough and the 40 would be even worse specially with 2 of them.she is so suprise and happy i just cant believe it.and not to mention i have no resos.i took them of and put straight pipes.im so happy with the change the truck sound so musculant now than ever.everyone lookhs at me on the street with a few thums up.here are some pics.the black color is the spray they sprad on it.know i will sell my 70 series 2in/2out on ebay it only like 4 month old

Get on the highway it will drone like a *****. I have had many cars with dual 40's and they all droned like mad. I find it VERY hard to believe you get no drone with 40's.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I didn't say you are lying. I merely said you haven't had it in the range of drone yet. Drone usually occurs at a certain RPM range only. If you are below or above that range you may get no drone whatsoever. Believe me take it on the highway and you will find it. Either that or you didn't get Flowmaster 40's. They drone plain and simple in every single application. Flowmaster will tell you that.

its hard to believe that the 70 series had alot of drone. i have very little to no drone at all with my 70 series setup. My buddy has 40's on his truck and it will split your damn head on the hwy at drone speed which is 60-70.

No drone

I noticed that you have an x-pipe in one of the pics. They equalize the exhaust pulses before they get to your mufflers, thus working in conjuction with your two mufflers to eliminate the drone.
I have a dual muffler set up with X-pipe and also NO DRONE at any given RPM.

im glad some off you have the no drone also that tells you im not lying.like i said i dont no why but it not there.just like you said jr8titan mayby it's the X pipe that i have combined with 2 seperate muffler that makes the no drone.
(smoothtitan)my 70 didn't have any drone on highway only on street between 1400-1800rpm only.
(greent)i dont mean it in a bad may when i say bust your bubble.it's just a figure of speech.Lol.but trust me i tried highway street backroad you name it no drone.as u can see others have 40 and no drone either.

The difference is definately the x-pipe. Duals FM muffs with no x/h pipe will drone badly, and lose quite a bit of low-end grunt.

I had the 70 series (single) that came with the FM cat-back kit...and it droned some between 1500-1900. I swapped the muff with a Borla XS, but kept the FM piping. Still some drone with the Borla, but acceptable. I may go Borla true duals w/ x-pipe someday.

I got a 40 with 1 inlet and 2 outs...I get some drone...sounds awesome for me though...Im young I like it...My system covers it up anyway...ALSO it depends what kind of Flowmaster u get...they have new technology out now that is supposed to stop the droning and Ive heard that from back in the day (not to far back but back...)to now...there IS a big difference and he prolly doesnt get any drone...
