Warped Intake Box

I opened my factory air box the other day to look at my filter. (K&N Drop-in) and it was pretty dirty on the one side by the tube, so I turned it around. When I was putting the lid back on, I was having trouble, as I usually do, Getting all three tabs to line up in the notches
SO, finally I got the outside two notches to go into their slots, and I noticed that the middle tab didn't go into the notch.
It's impossible to get it to go. SO, I take the cover back off, and I notice that the middle part of the lower box is warped.
The K&N filter has a ridge that fits over the lip inside the box to seal aroound the edges, so when I pull back on the middle of the box, It pops into place. But when I let go of the box the filter pops up.
I almost never drive in dusty/dirty conditions, and my filter was fairly dirty looking after just 4-5 months of use
so I wonder if since my airbox doesn't seal good if it could it cause me any problems. for example: dirt in engine, loss of power, anything else.
I am probably going to get a new intake in the new year, so I this something that I should have replaced, or just let it ride.
Thanks

If it were me, I'd never pass on what the dealership owes me. Think, for instance, that maybe for some reason your intake gets delayed. Or on the other hand, you end up driving through a dust storm prior to installing the intake that's on back order.

See if the dealer thinks you need one as well.

You know...mine does this too! It never seals properly no matter how hard I try.

My filter gets dirty on one side, basically, a line about one inch wide. I then rotate the filter so the other side can have a one inch line.

The goofy thing-I can ALWAYS see orange along the edge.

I'll let the dealer know the next time I have it in...
