15.2 sec on Nitto Terra Grapplers

I went to watch a friend's Buick GN twin turbo run with his fellow Buick GN club members today. Man those GN's are something else. He was running one of his street cars with regular tires and he was doing mid 10's all day. He drove the darn car to the track.

Anyway after his Nth run, he popped a hose connecting the intercooler to his intake manifold so he decided not to race his car and get it fixed to get home. Since their club had "rented" the entire racetrack for the entire day, he suggested that I paint his "number" (#007) on my Titan and try a couple of runs. (who am I to refuse?)

But here's the kicker: Full tank of 87 octane, junk inside the truck, overhead racks still on and Nitto Terra's on 20 inch wheels plus a 4x4 and a CC. This is also my first time at the tracks and I only get a 5 second instruction. I am nervous and excited I felt I had to use the bathroom.

First run is 15.2 sec and the second run (without cooling the truck) was 15.3 secs. Here are the time slips and some pics at the track. The 10 sec slip is his and the 15's are mine

I'm begining to like the race track. Maybe a few weeks of practice and some pounds off my truck will get me down to 14.9 seconds.

60' in 2.1

The 2.1 seconds to 60 feet I think is encouraging. Does this mean I did not lose the low end torque? And may improved over the stock? Help is needed to analyze the time slips.

Thanks ahead for any info

Considering you have 87MpH traps, you ran some great times. Great launches. Next time try folding in your mirrors (although I see you don't have Big Tow) and you should up that trap and hopefully have some nicer times.

Thanks guys. I'm going a few more times next month and continue to try the 14.9 second dream come true.

What?

Oustanding times given how you describe your introduction to drag racing...

Don't forget to leave the tailgate behind as well. Lower the air pressure in the rear tires a bit, eat Jell-O (to save on weight), and show us the slips next go!

Yep, GN's are bad. GNX's are worse. Those that have the new turbo chargers are EMN (evil, mean, and nasty)

Thanks again.

I knew I had an OK launch up to 60 ft, then just at the 1/8th and the truck felt "flat" all the way to the quarter. I had the the transmission on 4th gear the first run and Drive on the 2nd run. Any thoughts?

Ray, all that carbon fiber under the hood is weighin' you down!
Great times, I think for a CC. Imagine running on steel 17" wheels and lighter tires.

Try running in 3rd. That's what scr38 does in his Armada. He's been in the 14s with exhaust, intake, and TB spacer.
