There has been much discussion about Cab Resonance, or Drone as many people call it. Perhaps some of the exhaust saavy, engineering types could explain it. As in resonance -vs- sound levels.
Thanx,
Rick.
its like a pipe organ - at a certain rpm, 1500-1900, the exhaust explosion noise resonates at a fequency that matches the length of the tailpipe exhaust and it vibrates as a drone. a stock muff will quench it for the most part. a blind side branch halfway down the tail pipe will send the noise back to the exhaust and cancel out the drone. this is used frequently on generators to keep them quiet. I left url for an explanation on this and how to do a sidebranch a year ago. http://www.corral.net/forums/showth...threadid=496793
juma,
struck out with your thread, however doing a lot of searching on their site finally located the discussion on the side pipe. Interesting read and something I'll be trying this week hopefully. http://corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=496793
