Another AFE thread...

So I got in the Sparkplugs.com groupbuy last week and it came in today. I'm pretty handy with tools and working on cars, so the install took me about 15-20 minutes working alone.

Problems:
I'm missing one of the couplers (I think it's the 3-1/2"x3"). Should I contact Sparkplugs.com or AFE directly?

Other than that I must say I am VERY impressed with the product. Most of the time I buy car parts and think "there's no way this was worth $XXX." The Stage II is different - it is a really well-made system, and you can tell they only use Grade A parts. I am VERY impressed with the quality. Just taking it out of the box I was excited to see the finish of the box and quality of the filter.

I stuck the 3/4" weatherstripping on the bottom of the box (thank you TitanTalk ), and I don't think I have any noises. My Banks exhaust sounds deeper but that may be in my head.

The performance is unreal. I've put intakes on many cars but never before have they made this much of a gain. I don't want to look like an idiot and guess numbers, I'll just say this is DEFINITELY registered on the butt-dyno. Wow. Seems like a good spread over the powerband also, even throttle-tip in (maybe thanks to their resonated chamber).

Anyways just wanted to let people know what's up, if you have any questions about the system or need pictures let me know.

They left out one of the couplers on my mine as well. Went to Home Depot and found another coupler that actually fit better than the one that should have come with it(according to friend of mine who helped with the install that had done his already). Used the coupler I found to connect the intake to the TB tube. The tube was connected to the TB with the 3" that came with the package.
The coupler from Depot was one for pipefitting I think. The urethayne coupler was inside of a metal clamp, designed to encase the whole thing. I know, bad description. Look back in the piping section of Depot and you will find it. Back with the other urethanye fittings. Something like 3 bucks and works great. Use the urethayne coupler and toss the clamp.

Not so much a mod as it was a solution to a problem. But in the end it worked out better. Think that they are supposed to send you 2 different sized couplers; one to connect the TB to the tube and the other to connect the tube to the intake. The TB one I believe is about 3-1/2" diameter and some have mentioned it fitting rather sloppy on the TB ("ok" once clamped down well). The 3" one fits "well" on the intake. But it fits better on the TB. And the 3" urethayne coupler I found from Depot fit nice and snug. Should be no concern for leaks.
3 bucks and I didn't need to wait for AFE to re-send. Yeah, shotty service in the packaging dept., but Sprakplugs was great in price and shipping time. Can't say if they are responsible for the packaging, but doubt it.
And WAY happy with the performance. Reset the ECU and it screams.

I have the same coupler, I couldn't wait to install it haha. But unfortunatley these are polyurethane not silicone couplers, they don't have the heat resistance that the AFE ones should. That being said, I'd like to get them to send me the correct coupler so I can get rid of this one.

I reset the ECU before I even started it, she screams. :-D
