Love this exhaust but the highway drone is another matter. I see some have changed to a zoomers cannon tip, but the 3"to4" on the pipe had to be removed for this. Others have removed the 3to4" and put a normal 3" downturn. What about this for a fix. Saw this on JEG's web site and went to the mfr's site for info. Possible fix for the drone and no cutting and welding!
You can also go the JEG's site and go to down turns, then the cone inserts.
This can be put in just after the banks muffler for the 3" or there's even a 4" that could go just before the stock banks tailpipe. I know this is a soundwave issue, I just want to kill it. Anyone tried it or am I going to have to be the first. Wife refuse's to ride in the truck now for trips, so for harmony I'm stuck now in the van for trips. I just need to ditch the drone on this.

I wish my wife would refuse to ride in it.....she rides, and *****es the whole time. Try towing with the banks and talking to someone in the back seat. They have to lean into the front to hear you.

I'm going to go for this Vortex cone insert from Dynatech, before cutting my system and putting on the zoomers cannon tip. Waiting for a reply from them on where to try first. 3" behind the muffler or 4" just before the banks tip, all stainless also. Bet their at SEMA also.
They say it doesn't impede the scavenge ability of a good system. plus it slips in and these folks are all about exhaust flow. http://www.secureperformanceorder.co...ProductID=2476

Ordered Dynatech's 3" Stainless steel vortex cone. I went with the 3" to install just after the banks muffler. My theory is to intercept the drone sound wave issue midstream in the cat back system. Plus the install here is easy and quick, just insert it and reinstall tail pipe piece back into the muffler. I'll use an expander to just smooth out the clamp indents before I insert it. I'll post the results. The other option was to tack Dynatech's 4" in the tail piece just before it goes to 5". But to tack it up it in there and allowing for a good fit does not look like fun.

Another option may be some sound dampening material inside the doors, and along the back of the cab. I forget the name of the company that others ahve used.
I know that's kinda off what you all are talking about, but it's just an idea...

So this piece you're getting actually sit inside the pipe itself? Interesting, please keep us posted on the result. Also wondering if this defeat the purpose of free flowing.

Yep, slips right in the pipe right were the tail pipe piece slips into the Banks muffler, 3-4 tabs catch the edge and hold it there, tip into the exhaust flow stream.
In speaking with DynaTech, they are all about race performance and really want to help me on this issue. Take a look at their site, race performance is what they do. Spoke with one tech guy this morning and he told me everyone is on the way back from SEMA and they would call me again Tuesday. He told me to go ahead with the 3" order from JEG's but they would be on the phone with me again prior to me even installing it. Suggested I might want come see them. It would be a full day there and back from here in Ann Arbor.
Don't get me wrong, I love the sound and performance, just this drone issue.
If it hush's it to much I'll pull it much to the dismay of my wife.
And yes I'm also going to install Dynamat or Rattletrap on the back wall and floor. Wanted that prior to the install anyways.

DynaTech called me today and asked all the right questions. They agreed with me on the 3" install to start. Did state I'll loose a few db's, just may kill the Drone issue, but will not restrict the flow. They did point a finger at the 5" tip also. They also want a report back.

drone can be killed with a side branch resonator - a pipe half as long (or as long as you can make it) as the tailpipe( muff to tip) and welded in at the mid point of the tailpipe....you could look it up (stengel).
Should have gotten a different exhaust to begin with.... That is all people talk about after getting a Banks is the Drone. I am glad I took a chance with something different. Zoom Zoom Zoom......

Yeah banks is the loudest (and best"est" IMHO). If you don't like drone (I don't even notice it) it's not the best choice.

Should have gotten a different exhaust, NOT. Gale Banks stepped up before anyone else. So let's keep the thread on track. Oh I love it, even more when I stomp on it, and even general driving around, heck the wife gets a grin, and she sure likes the looks she gets when driving it. Just this slight drone issue. Between all of us here at TT, dynatech stepping in and even Zoomers helping, it will get cured.
Ah the life of Hot Rodding, do you really think all this aftermarket stuff was just bolt on and go in the first few years of life of this truck?? Volant version ?? Like I said, Dynatech wants a report back, most likely in order to call on Banks with a product. Should we trash any of these products or provide feedback to improve it. Maybe a 4" Zoomers Cannon tip!! To sell to Banks!! and Us!! Thats just look at your feedback, and adapt- quickly!! Nuf said. Cheers!!

Just ordered mine a few days ago. Should be in tomorrow.
I was planning on installing it where the 3" widens to the 4" first to see what that does. Given that the pipe turns at that point, I figured that was a good place to experiment...
Any thoughts?

So did you order the 3" or 4". They wanted me to put the 3" midstream in the catback just behind the muffler. They do have one's mounted in turn outs but those were for mounting just after header collectors for race applications.
