banks tip switch

Hey Titan Members - My first post as a titantalk member and I have a question for those in the know. I recently installed the Banks Monster (thanks to RB's Titan for organizing the group buy - well done ) and I love everything about the exhaust with the exception of the tip.
If I was to switch to a 3inch or a 4inch tip would it hurt any of the performace? Also, if I replace the pipe behind the muffler to a y-pipe for dual outs - would there be any negative impact on performace?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Until then, I'll enjoy the growl this awesome exhaust gives. It sounds like some real muscle under the hood.

Welcome to TT gtbaldini!

My buddy just did the tip mod to his Banks. Did quiet it down inside with no change it the butt dyno to either of us. Not sure on MPG.

He asked his exhaust guy about the Y pipe I believe so maybe he can pass on what his thoughts were.

Onthefence where you at?

Banks tip

I just bought a part that I will hope reduces resonance.

It's an exhaust cone that fits inside the system. $60 from Summitracing.

Zoomers makes a tip but you have to cut the 4" part off the Banks...possibly getting a reducer to clamp on.

Cutting into my Banks would be disturbing!

Thanks for the replies. Someone early showed some pictures of the Stillen dual sides outs earlier and I thought it looked really sharp. I was thinking about running a y-pipe after the Banks muffler and running dual outs to the side like the Stillens. I just don't know if there would be any performace loss, plus I feel a little foolish getting rid of perfectly good 3inch medral bent SS pipe after the muffler set up. Because of this, I think I'll just get a new rolled tip that doesn't look like a coffee can coming out the back. I was looking for some input from other members that may have had similar thoughts.
Thanks

I also just bought the Vortex Exhaust cone but from JEG's, going in the pipe right behind the muffler. Waiting for it to show and will report back. Made by Dynatech. Really don't want to cut my pipe. I do see Banks has 4" tip's on other systems. They really should offer us this option.

I don't mind the drone at all. Listening to other's experiences I moved the tip out and its not terriably bad, plus the growl is awesome. My only complaint is that I think the size is cheesy. It looks like I'm running a bazooka tube like some teeage hotrodder in a Dodge Neon. I'd like to reduce the size of the tip so it matches the lines on the truck.

Our Zoomers tip has a 3" I.D. inlet and I think the lenth is long enough to meet up with the Banks 3" part of the tail pipe. The total lenth of the tip from inlet to end is 14"... a few guys have done it here with no reported problems.

Yeah I'd prefer a 4" tip to the 5" tip that comes with the banks but I still love it.

Hey Kronos - I think your on to something with the exhaust cone. Could you let us know how it all turns out? Summit is really good about getting parts out to their customers really quick. Last time I order from them they got me my part in 4 days stardard mail - and they sent me a hat gratis too!!

Ron, I got a complaint. I recently ordered the Cannon tip from you, I only got the tip, the model is missing.
