Wake Up!

Hey guys,

I had an 04 and I traded it in for an 05 because of all the problems i was having with it. I like the 05 much better, they fixed a lot of the annoying quirks that the first model year had. One thing I did notice was that the 05 doesn't seem as quick as the 04 did. It almost seems doggy and slow. Has anyone else noticed this w/ the 05. I know not everyone probably drove both back to back like I did. I was just wondering if you guys knew anything I didn't.

Got any low cost suggestions that could help me "wake this one up"

Thanks!
Chad

You might want to try reseting your ECM along with the other adjustments: http://www.titantalk.com/forums/show...23&postcount=1

I think it might just be the truck. I drove a lingering 04 before the 05 I purchased and it was the exact opposite for me. I think it just falls into the realm of they are not all alike but as Sammy said an ECU reset could be the fix. When I bounced on the throttle of the 04 it was lagging and jerky (actually felt like a tundra), when I did the same to the 05 it snapped the neck with every depression.

Thats why I'm curious if something needs to be adjusted/reset like mentioned. This one will bog down on the hills where the other one felt more powerful, or would at least shift down and power up. I will try the reset and see if this helps. I like this procedure because I don't need to disconnect the battery.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again!

Well the 04 means you only have to push the pedal 4 inches. You are just used to only having to push that pedal. But the 05 you need to push a little further. You still have another inch to go. Try pushing another inch or so and call me in the morning!

Did you trade it in for a new or used one? If it was used, maybe it's been around the track, if you know what I mean.

umm ok. I'll remember that.

One thing I have noticed is that somedays it seems to run better than others. I haven't noticed a trend with temperatures or humidity but it does feel different sometimes.

It's well known that 04's are faster then 05's and 6's, especially glxy blk,CC,4x4's!

HAHA. I'm sure thats true, especially with those tires!

It bums me out that it is noticeable. If i didn't have the 04 before then I'd think that the 05 was plenty powerful but now that I know its potential I for some reason feel this need for it. haha. I guess its just time to start saving my pennies for some mods.

I would tend to bet that it will improve after break in period and you put your first synthetic oil change in.

I'm at 4k+ miles. Its had its first oil change. It does seem a little better but still not the same. I'm not that worried about it. Just curious for some info.

Thanks everyone.

One of the complaints of the '04 was that there was way too much throttle tip-in. You could barely touch the gas pedal and the truck accelerated too quickly. This had less to do with the horsepower of the truck but more to do with how the drive-by-wire computer was programmed. Nissan may have cut back on the amount of throttle tip-in on the '05.
