Cut the Red/White wire

I pulled the battery box and cut the red wire with the white stripe in the lower computer connection, and wired in a switch. I left it under the hood for now. I tested it before I cut the wire, from a stand still, if you hold the brake with your left foot, and give it gas, when you let off the brake, it takes some time, maybe a half second, before the truck accelerates. After I put the switch in, with the switch off, I tried it and there is no hesitation.
It may be Feburary before I get to a track to try it, but my best 60 ft time so far, is 2.28. I will be able to tell right away if it helps.

So what exactly is the red & white wire? Do you get any lights on the dash with the switch off?

It is the wire that signals the computer when the brakes are applied, and the computer cuts the power. I read about it here last week. I did not get any lights from cutting the wire. I drove about 20 miles with the switch off just to see if anything would happen.
It may be just me, but I think that it accelerates from a stop quicker.

I wonder if this will take care of that tiny hesitation that has been noticed during normal acceleration from a stop.

Thanks for the update, sounds great. Being able to powerbrake will improve the dead spot off idle. Now keep cutting wires till you find the one controlling the shift torque management. You know....whatever reduces the power on shifts. You can feel it when the truck shifts, I bet there is a 1/2 second in firming up the shifts if we get it to really grab the next gear instead of smoothly going into it. Isn't there a sperate computer controlling this? Codes in that thing shouldn't be too bad........

It's miserytom's mod. Check some of the other forums (since I can't link to it) he's got a pretty good explaination of the throttle control on TS, CT and NTF. It's what textitaninva used for his burnout videos.

Burning off tires is the first thing that comes to mind. I'm sure there is probably some long term ramification from driving the truck hard all the time.

Isn't this a Nissan trait though? I thought the Max (and probably the Alti) do this as well? It seems like they try to make the shoft points smooth, so you feel no sharp shift. I personally wouldn't mind a little quicker shift, although i'm not going the rholland route-just cutting wires!!

BTW-WTG, rholland, you da' man (of the week-next week it'll be someone else!!) for taking the leap. If it weren't for people like you, America may have never been discovered! Hats off to you, my friend!!

Alot of makes do this torque reduction when shifting. The 03 hemi trucks had a single wire they could cut and remove it.

My Maxima doesn't have it...............because it's a 6 speed. The automatics do though. It would be nice if the Titan could have quicker sharper shifts.

I did some testing with my GTech after doing the brake wire mod. I compared launches from idle, 1500, 2000 and 2200 rpm. The mod does allow you to launch a little harder, although you have to watch wheel-spin more closely. My best 60' and 0-60 times still remain to be from idle and 1500 rpm. They may improve at the track using a 2000-2200 launch since the track is prepped better than "my" track.

What's immediately noticable, is that you can now do these 2000+ rpm launches w/o the motor falling on it's face. Try a 2200 launch w/o this mod, and because of the max throttle position (we've heard 10%) with brakes applied, the motor boggs badly off the line.

I opted not to put a switch in. When I sell the truck, someday, I'll splice it back to stock.

I drove nealy 200 miles today with the switch off. One thing I noticed was no hesitation when leaving a stop light. I may leave it off for a couple of tanks of gas to check mileage, you know everthing we do to our trucks, we have to tell our wives, is for better gas mileage.
