Nismo exhaust review, Stage I, the Unveiling

While I was opening this exhaust, I was like a kid at Christmas and it was all I could do to leave it sealed until I got home. I knew this this was beautiful but I was by no means prepared for the gorgeous design and impeccable workmanship. This exhaust is made with all the care that one would bestow upon a work of art. I kid you not, this looks amazing and the pictures don't really do it justice but I posted them anyway because I know everyone following this review wants to see them.

There are slight imperfections as you would expect from any modern manufacturing process which is evidenced by the small misalignment of the tips. I'm not unhappy with it and it's something that I doubt most people would notice after installation. The welds are awesome and I would imagine this exhaust will be together for as long as I need it to be. I can't say enough good things about the quality of this piece of Stainless steal sculpture and if it performs as good as it looks I will be in orbit shortly after installation.

I am also impressed with what appears to be a complete kit down to new dual layer gaskets for use between the Bpipes and the primary flanges as well as all new bolts and nuts. I am frequently disappointed at some cheap hardware packs in expensive goods but this is not one of those times because it looks like they included everything needed for a perfect sealed install.

I measured the interior of one of the pipes with a digital caliper and it came out to 2.13" or about 2 1/8th inches. That's pretty close to 2.25" and I am happy with the size. The flanges will offer ample support for this heavy piece and with 3 bolts holding each one together, I don't expect any leaks other than at the primary flange which is held together by just two bolts. Oh well I guess no design is perfect but this one is close.

The mufflers themselves apparently have ceramic cores and have the same size opening, 2.13" as the rest of the exhaust unlike my Zoomers which flares out inside the muffler to about 5" which maybe one of the reasons it's relatively quiet. I doubt this one will be quiet and if you are looking for quiet without the addition of add on resonators and such, you may want to stop reading now, lol. I know it wont be as loud as something like the Banks but I believe that the trumpet tips along with the small opening through the muffler will serve to announce your presence from half a block away. Oh well, there goes stealth mode so I guess I'll have to be a little more careful about gunning it in front of the man and maybe I'll save some gas, lol.

I am trying my best to think of other negative things to say and the only other thing that pops to mind is that it smells of a warehouse, that's with an a and not an ho folks, lol. I am just ecstatic to have this thing in my house and I am very tempted to go put it on in the dark. This is too fine a piece to put it on in the dark and like a beautiful women, I want all the lights on and I want it to last as long as possible, lol. Ban me if you must but I couldn't resist, lol. Enough foreplay, on to the photos.

I forgot to mention the price. I know that has been brought up a lot and I was so enamored with the girl that I forgot to ask how much before I got her home, lol. She is expensive there is no doubt about it and you may have to rob the kids college fund to buy some of the best performance parts. I will send Timmy to vocational school because this thing is off the hook and the fact is that you are darned near getting two exhaust systems here because you double everything past the Y.

Now I'm done with the Stage I review and It's time for bed, guess what I'm sleeping with, lol.

Re: Nismo exhaust review, Stage I, the Unveiling

I dont know anyone who gets that worked up over new exhaust.

Good luck with them.....keep us posted. Maybe NISMO decided to step up and support the Titan a bit more?

P.S. those are going to be loud as chit!!!! I love the double polished tips.

They may be stepping up and my track times will tell the story which I will post good or bad.
They are surprisingly quiet at cruising speed with not much drone at all which contrasts greatly the WOT machine gun roar of this system.

Re: Nismo exhaust review, Stage I, the Unveiling

I believe the tips aren't misaligned. It's suppose dto be that since they will exit at an angle the tip ends will be lined up with the side of the truck.

Expect some pictures later and I like the way Nismo did the tips because they don't stick out too far at all.

The looks are not decieving in this case and it installed on the truck like an OEM part should.
