AFE installed.

Well I got my AFE intake installed yesterday. Other than the issues with the couplers being a little short and having to buy a longer one from Autozone. I love the intake. Sounds great. No rattles or whistling. I thought there was a bit of whistle at first but can't hear any at all now. Power feels okay. Not a huge gain but I think the ECU might still be learning. Sometimes it feels real strong and other times it feels a bit off for a split second then pulls hard. I tried an ECU reset but I dont think it worked right. I think once the computer gets used to it, it will be a good solid gain. The system is very well made and I would highly recommend it. Here are the obligatory pics.

Re: AFE installed.

I see they started putting the AFE emblem on the vacuum box, mine doesn't have that.

Re: AFE installed.

The short coupler still worked fine for the TB in my case. I would be careful with which coupler you buy though, make sure its silicone or at least high-temp compliant since that TB can heat up.

I'm with Sammy, my vacuum box doesn't have that stamp either. Sure are a lot of AFE emblems on them now!

Re: AFE installed.

Yeah I noticed the extra emblem too. The short coupler is on the TB and works fine. I used a longer one on the MAF. From what I gather the longer coupler they used to use was also larger in diameter by 1/4" and had a sloppy fit on the TB. I am guessing that is why they started using just the small ones b/c the shorter coupler is also smaller diameter and fits the TB with no slop. As for the coupler the one I got is a silicone intake coupler. It is made for this purpose so I am sure it will be fine. I had an ond 3" diameter AEM coupler laying around but it was just a little to small to stretch around the intake pipe. This Autozone one is not as well made as the AEM so it was able to stretch.

Re: AFE installed.

Mine came with one short and one long, but both had the same diameter. They were both loose fitting around the tubing, but once the clamps were on it took out all the slop (to my suprise.)

Re: AFE installed.

AFE looks like a pretty big box, has anybody tried teh Dryflow filter from AEM with it?

Part of the power gains associated with the AFE are the Filter. It has huge surface area....I won't be swapping it out for a AEM.

+1. Not only does it have a larger surface area than AEM it has a velocity stack at the end so it also pulls air through the front of the filter.

Re: AFE installed.

does anyone have a pic of the filter? I might just get that and do some modding to the stock setup.
