I was considering the NISMO and AFE intakes. The NISMO spec sheets say 12.5 HP @5500RPM and 15.2 lb-f@ 3800RPM at the rear wheels. The AFE says 11 HP and 27 lb-ft @ 3500RPM.
Does anyone know if the AFE specs at the rear wheel?
I liked the idea of having the NISMO since its a Nissan part but the AFE looks good too. I've read the recent AFE posts and they look real good and with the deal on sparkplugs.com the price is right.
I am considering these two intakes as well as the new Volant Gen3. I don't know what to go with. I don't like that the AFE tube supposedly doesn't fit the throttle body exactly, it fits loose and the clamp just tightens it on. Also, I think people have reported vibrations with the AFE. I like that the Volant is a sealed system, where the Nismo and AFE aren't. Then again, I like the Nismo because its Nismo. I'm still confused and don't know what to get. Although I'm leaning toward the Volant right now. I don't know how the driving noise levels compare between the three. That would make a difference for me also. I would like a little bit of a woosh when I'm getting on it, but during cruising and interstate driving, quiet would be best.

I don't have one yet either, but am also leanig toward the Volant Gen3. After all the discussion about air intake temps, I'm going for a sealed box intake which as of right now is either the AFE or Volant. PM PremierTruck for a great price on the Volant Gen3. I'm sure you will be happy with which ever one you get as from all the info I've seen, they are almost all the same in performance, just look different.
If all the #'s are actual #'s(compared to inflated ones) I'd go for the AFE since it gives more torque. Most people say they lose a little on the low end when they do exhaust mods and the AFE would probably better make up for any loss.
If you look at the NISMO dyno sheet, all test was done with 93 octane. Not saying it's not a good or bad intake but it's a NISMO R-tune so it will get treated like any other intake as far as warranty is concern.

I agree, a sealed system would be nice. I should look more into the Volant. I have heard a lot of bad stuff about them thats why I was avoiding them. I guess if the V3 is better than it woudlnt matter.
I'd like a little noise but not a lot. I wonder how much you can hear it over an aftermarket exhaust.
I had a drop in K+N in my tacoma and that made a little more noise and that didnt bother me.
I did notice the 93 octane part and that did concern me a little since I never run 93. I'm not sure how much difference that would actually make though. I did know it was a type R but i think the dealership might be a little more lenient since it is a Nissan part. Maybe not who knows.
Yah supercharger... great idea... do you want to contribute to my "Get Chad a supercharger fund" so I can buy one?
