OK, I gotta ask. Greg is gone until Monday, so I'm picking your brains, TTers.....yes, yours too!
I've read up as much as I can find on Greg's mini lift, and I know what his recommendation is, but I'd still like to hear from any experts on this.
Can I get the mini lift with the 1.5" rear blocks and keep my stock shocks.....for a while? I'm assuming the travel length needs to be upgraded, but can you get by on the stocks for a few months of just highway/city driving, no off-roading? I really want the rear blocks to keep that stance when towing, but I would like to put off shocks for a month or two. I already have the front leveling kit, and have a buddy with an in-ground lift who's going to help me next weekend, but I'd like to do the rear at the same time if possible. However, funds have been strained recently by an unexplained......uh.....Titan.....spending frenzy. I think I can sneak the rear block kit under radar but not the shocks at the same time.
Any thoughts on this?

im no expert, but i have been running the 1" blocks with the stockers for 6 months now and no problems. i dont see why the stockers wont last a few weeks with the 1.5".

The billet aluminum rear block kit will raise the rear of the truck. The 1" kit is fine with the factory shocks. An upgraded shock may be required with the 1.5" kit.
so it's 50/50

Thanks for the replies. Now that I think about it, either way I win. I get away with the stock shocks, and even if they went, I'd have to replace them, right? Heh heh heh.....

Yeah I'd have to agree that with no offroading the stockers will be fine for a while, but will eventually need to be replaced. I have the 1" rear blocks with the stock shocks for almost a year now and they are doing just fine.
I ran the 1.5" rear blocks with the factory Ranchos for 3 months before upgrading to the Bilsteins when I installed the leafpacks. You can do it on-road with pretty much no problems. I really only had the shocks top out when I went over a speed bump, or had any axle articulation of more than a few inches.
