2" of lift from 1.25" spacers?

This may be a stupid question to some of you......but I've never let that stop me from asking them before, so here goes.
I'm putting on Greg's leveling kit next weekend, and I'm sitting here looking at it, and I notice the spacers are only 1.25" thick. How do you get 2" of lift from this?

It's geometry, you wouldn't understand.

Just kidding. It has to do with the angles and such. I know it doesn't make any sense either. I just helped RU2112SH do his truck last weekend. The second one I've done. Greg's instructions got better between mine and his. Ironically, in both instances I didn't extend the jackstands far enough to get the wheels back on after re-assembly. You'll make the same mistake too - I promise.

Think of it like this:

The coil isn't attached to the A-arm at the wheel, but closer to the center of the arm. The outer portion of the arm travels a greater distance for the same rotation compared to the inner portion of the arm. So a smaller added height ends up being larger the further you go out.

Cool, thanks for the info. That geometry post above was a low blow, I RULED at geometry. Geometry is all those shapes and stuff, right?

Re: 2" of lift from 1.25" spacers?

Just so you guys know, the ratio on the titan is right about 1.65:1-1.7:1, it actually increases as it gets taller. Your 2" lift is acually a 1.2" spacer. The 2.5" are 1.5" thick. Stupid fact: the 05 forntiers are about 1.5:1. The rear of the armada is around 1.6:1. Its called a "motion ratio" in suspension circles. your spring rate ona 4wd titan is 650lbs/in but the "wheel rate" is around 238lbs/in. although the distance is a linear ratio, the spring rate is inverse squared. fun stuff i tell ya.
