This is interesting. I recall this coming into media attention during the great oil embargo of the early '70's. I remember my Dad coming home from work where one of his buddies said he read about "this Pogue guy who put a special carburetor on a '72 LTD with a 351 and got over 150 MPG!" As I recall, the story was there was a legal screw-up where the oil companies tried to shut him down and get his patent application voided, but due to some clerical error, it went through and Pogue published several newsletters or books indicating how you can build your own Pogue carburetor. The story continued that the oil companies then went into overdrive to successfully shut him down, but not in time to stop several hundred books/pamphlets/brochures from leaking out into public knowledge. Funny, how it's now available online for anyone who has a 1930's automobile! This appears real enough, but it's funny how history gets twisted into bizarre stories during certain "trying" times....
