Exhaust question

I was wondering if anyone has just unbolted the mid section of our exhausts and had a quality muffler fitted so it was like stock. How this worked. Our piping is 2.5" if I am correct. Maybe I will try to buy a Borla muffler with 2.5in/2.5out. Have them bend the piping and install it. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this.

Re: Exhaust question

Several folks have just replaced the muffler. You'll need a muffler with an offset input and centered out, both 2.5". Otherwise you'll have to have some pipe bent.

Re: Exhaust question

Borla doesnt make a 2.5" offset in, adding a small s shape pipe just before the inlet looks like the only way to use it since the borla 2.5" is a center in.

Re: Exhaust question

When I did exhaust, it was only a little more for stainless catback, so I went with the Banks.

Anyone can do the install themselves.

The Banks also replaces the restrictive "Y" which swapping a muffler won't do.
I've got Banks too.

Re: Exhaust question

I swapped out my stock for a Magnaflow 24" Muffler and the only noticable difference is the sound. Its much louder and significant drone at 1500-2000RPM.
I had the stock cut out so I could replace it if I didnt like the Magnaflow. On another note, I asked about replacing the pipe from the muffler out and the service guy said he didnt recommend b/c the factory was SS and to replace with alum. steel wouldnt last as long. Is this correct?
