Mushy brake pedal...

I know its been talked aout before but did anyone ever find a cure for the mushy brake pedal? I remember reading WAY BACK that some people tried changing out the rubber brake hoses to the ssbraided hoses...any change in feeling? I wanna get a solid feel from that brake pedal....

Re: Mushy brake pedal...

Are you talking about when you slam the brake on or with normal stops?

Re: Mushy brake pedal...

Apparently there is some flexing on the Master Brake Cylinder (guessing...I forgot what it's called) that accounts for a certain amount of this. You could fab a brace to minimize...or wait for PRG.

Also, if you step on the brake a few times before you start your truck..it takes some play out of the brake pedal (unless it's the placebo effect for me )

lol...a lil bit of OCD there or what...cant start the truck unless I step on the brakes 3 times...lol

well I know u cant compare the 2 but just compared like to my transam there alot of play on the feel of the break and was wondering if there was anything we could do to make it more solid...its not as bad as my friends chevy but I dunno if its cuz he gots 22's with factory brakes and his truck orginally came with 16's

Re: Mushy brake pedal...

I can speak for the SS break lines. They helped.

Your easiest way is to measure from the edge of the fender flange to the top of your brake reservoir cap. If you have a measurement of 7 3/4 the brace WILL work. any less than that and the brace will not fit. I have both of these on my personal Titan and they have made a huge improvement. To demonstrate to yourself what the brace does. Open the hood of your truck and start the engine. Have a friend or family member press on the brake pedal and watch how much the master cylinder flex's. This eliminates that flex.

Thanks,
Kyle
