The Borla offers less for more money...it's only 2.25'' pipe......no x-pipe ....and i hate the exit points...plus with offroad headers i don't think 1 muffler would work 4 me when you delete the stock resonators she is loud..

Because it would have added another 40% to the price. Plus the Borla in my opinion looks silly as the driver side exit crosses right behind the rear diff on the low side.

I saw the borla for $699. How thats 40% more confounds me to no end.

I dont mind the low pipe, to each his own.

Lets not forget its top grade stainless as well.

I had a banks system.....once i took out the resonators and the cats it was WAY 2 loud...
Well, the borla is $699, you spent what, $650? The borla without resonators and cat might sound right?

And they claim the smaller pipe is better, not worse. I tend to agree. They have millions of dollars worth of research and development, I dont.

But if you dont like the rear exit, thats all the reason you needed really.

Where did you see Borla for $699? Just curious. Cheapest I've seen is $780.

Never heard of "Mandrel" Bends?

I made this thread for informational purposes and for folks like me who love to tweak and test the results……NOT for someone to imply I made a bad decision. If you don't like someone’s ideas just keep it to yourself. Folks like you make people not want to post decent info

If you think 2.25'' is best for a/my titan with off-road headers where I have 2.5’’ collectors and no resonators something is wrong...u should do a little research and pay closer attention to the thread b4 u chime in. Dual 2.5'' is optimal for my output and recommended for up to 450 hp...Without killing low end

The factory Borla I’m sure was developed 4 folks who want to interface an otherwise stock exhaust. 2.25'' is fine for a truck with stock resonators...and cats...the bottle neck is in the resonators (1 7/8'' approx) and the cats NOT the exhaust.

Plus i just cant get over seeing the drivers side pipe in the back of the rear diff...it's in plain veiw of any driver and i think it looks like crap

Re: Custom Borla True Dual Equal Lenth w/X-pipe and Stillen Long Tube Headers

whoaaa...easy there.

Im not implying that you made a bad decision. If thats the way I came across, I apologize.

I think you did a neat job and it took a lot of time and effort, and it looks professional. My hats off to you.

I was just trying to pick your brain and weigh the pros and cons of different aproaches, basically a pre made system versus what you did.

What kind of headers are u running? What do u mean "off road"? Do the factory exhaust manifolds have the cat. coverters built into them, and is this what you mean? did u have to remove the converters to run aftermareket headers?

Sorry i took it the wrong way.....yes; the factory manifolds have the cats attached. My headers are made by stillen and are for off-road use only......I wouldn't make to many friends in California if you catch my drift...

Re: Custom Borla True Dual Equal Lenth w/X-pipe and Stillen Long Tube Headers

Are u pleased with the headers? will they bolt up to the factory exhaust? Ive always been a fan of headers, but when they start charging $800 for them because they are stainless steel, i have to think twice.

The stillen headers provided my best seat of the pants gains so far....still need to go to the dyno on saturday to see exactly how much....installation involves jacking the motor up from it's mounts to gain clearance for installation.....it's really tight in there...a bit of work....but i noticed more power from my headers than i did with an intake and exaust

Re: Custom Borla True Dual Equal Lenth w/X-pipe and Stillen Long Tube Headers

yeah, headers are one of (if not the) best mods you can do. It does look tight in there. That kind of sucks, a big truck with a big engine compartment, lots of room everywhere else, but the exhaust manifolds are tight and hard to get too. You can hardly even see them.

Might be something i do a few years down the road.

stillen claims 29 hp. Not bad if its accurate.
