Re: Custom Borla True Dual Equal Lenth w/X-pipe and Stillen Long Tube Headers
Looks great, can't wait to check it out. I was hoping you would call today and I could have made a run over. I have to go to Jennings this week so let me know a good day to drop in and get the Banks.
Re: Custom Borla True Dual Equal Lenth w/X-pipe and Stillen Long Tube Headers
Except the extra bends will offset the balacing of the length.
There is some myth to equal length header theory anyway, at least on the SBC and LS1 from what I've seen, read, and experienced in drag racing.
Also, the intake manifold itself on any of the new fuel injected V8s out there, Nissan, Ford, Dodge, or Chevy, all come with composite manifolds that are fed through front mounted throttle-bodys. Guess what? The rear cylinders are far more lean than the front cylinders because of the way the air rushes to the back of the manifold. Thus, even on the intake side there is no true "balance," and no, the ECU does not watch each cylinder individually to correct for this.
If you don't believe me, plug in a wideband to each cylinder and have a look. Some cylinders may be burning off a leaning air-fuel mixture than others, so why support each with the exact same exhaust port/primary length?
Not trying to be a jerk, just letting people know that it doesn't matter as much. The difference is made in primary sizing, collector design, x-pipe design, and exhaust pipe sizing, because that's when all the different exhaust pulses are tossed together. The difference at our horsepower levels won't care either way, nor will the extra bend really make a difference.
It should make awesome torque and horsepower numbers. The dual 2.5" pipes are a good choice for our HP level. Now, if we could get some tuning software...

What does some cylinders burning leaner than others have to do with exhaust flow? You still have the same amount of "back" and "front" cylinders on each bank, making each side the same, right?
And why the talk about headers? These are pipes, not headers.

I was talkin equal dual exhaust length not header length......every x-pipe I’ve seen has been close to equal length b4 the x-pipe...mustang, viper, vette....and i don't question their credibility so i figured it was worth a try...and due to a the gas tank on a titan ...the exhaust is best dumped out the passenger side that’s why i added more length to the passenger side to equal the drivers side bank.

I think equal length would be preferred if you could do it without adding restrictive bends to get it. the whole point of upgrading the exhaust is to remove restrictive bends, not add them.
