This issue should not be a surprise. When Toyota put out a TRD factory supercharger for the flagship Landcruiser (the top of the toyota line with the strongest drivetrane they knew how to build at the time) it was quickly determined that the trannys - weather auto or stick -= simply could not take the added power that bost (even low level 6 psi boost - provided to the high efficency 4 valve per cylinder 4.7 engines. Out Titans are the same basis design - just bigger and more powerful than the Toyota of that era. Until stronger trannys are available running boost is only for the brave and the wealthy who can stand the loss of the vehicle for lots of shop time for the required repairs.
That sums it up very well.

I wouldn't exactly say PROVEN. One set of failures in one vehicle does not prove a inherent weakness in the drivetrain across the entire line of vehicles. All conditions must be considered. Testing and tuning conditions, driving style, options on the truck at the time of failure, etc should be documented and taken into consideration. Also, all conditions should be considered and applied over a considerable volume of vehicles with similar power output (i.e., all with the supercharger or similar power adder.)

Well said - and I am sure Toyota TRD did NOT give up easily before they discontinues offering there own 6 lb boost supercharger for there own Toyota Land Cruiser as a factory warranty optional power enhancer easily. At least not before they spent the big $$ doing all the research and having all the data professionally analysed by teams of experts. They simply had to much invested into the program to walk away without investigating all the options. However, a factory stock off the dealership floor naturally aspirated Toyota Land Cruiser won it's class in the last Dakkar offroad rally. That would speciffically be a 2000 landcruiser 100 (same truck my wife drives - only her's is green) This truck won the production class in the Paris Dakar Rally (over 5000 miles across Africa) and finishes 25th overall. Here is the link http://www.toyota-body.co.jp/dakar/index.html

Like I said, the car tranny in the Titan, cannot handle the amount of torque produced by a modified engine.
Why do you think Nissan does not allow WOT until after 30 mph in a stock Titan?

Not to be argumentative, but, what freakin' CAR in the Nissan stable did they borrow the Titan transmission from?????? Also, if you think about it, the WOT issue would be a function of the ABLS system, NOT transmission protection. My previous Titan was an XE without ABLS, and I most certainly had wide open throttle at ANY speed.....
Different bell housings and TCU but 90% the same inside.
Anybody seen the size of our tranny cooler? It's half the size of our radiator and 1/2" thick. No that's HUGE.

It's a whole lot more to it than that.
The only way you can get WOT from before 30+ mph is through an ecu tune from Uprev or Technosquare or the BigMouth Project...
