Black Box install dyno 288/339 hp before - 293/352 hp after

Black Box installed - Dyno 288/339 hp before - 293/352 hp after

Stock Titan Big Tow vs AEM Banks Black Boxed Big Tow Titan

Black Box Breakdown.

First do a search on this website for BLACK BOX and catch up. Others have tried it and posted their results and Ron gives an explanation about how it works.

Here is my experience...

After working the night shift and only sleeping two and a half hours I woke up at 6am to leave Miami for the 3 hour trip to Ft. Myers. Oddly I woke up pumped and ready to rock. I had to wait two weeks for a 10am Sunday appointment so I was a bit anxious to get there.

Got there at about 9:30 and Ron and Pricilla got there around 9:45. They pulled up in a Silver Titan CC LE. Right away they got down to business. Not much talking and all tech. I looked around the shop and they had a Callaway Vette there and also a few engines that looked like they were in various stages of porting, polishing, and rebuilding.

To my surprise Priscilla takes my titan and starts backing it up onto the dyno rack with super precision as it was a tight fit. Ron and Priscilla are calling orders back and forth like a couple of sailors on an aircraft carrier doing a preflight check. Then she begins to strap the truck down to the dyno front and back to secure the Truck before "take off". Don't be fooled by Priscilla's good looks she is all business and knows her stuff. Her and Ron sounded like surgeons working on my truck. At one point Ron calls for some readout and Priscilla says "she's flat" I am looking at the dyno screen at what looks like a EKG flatline and I wonder if we should grab the Defibrillator and yell "CLEAR" Actually Priscilla says flat if good.

So after hooking up the truck to the computer they do two baseline runs and both are very close 288/339. they then hook up the "Black Box Tuner" and begin tweaking the set up and doing a total of 6 runs. they tweak after each run and we waited for the engine to cool down a bit before the last run which pulled a 293/352!

The Titan sounded like a freight train on the dyno. BADA$$!! Like a Nascar racer going around the big bend. Check the videos although nothing like being there and feeling it in your chest. Just that experience was worth the price of admission not to mention the tuning.

The best part was that they fixed the low end lag I had after installing the Banks & AEM intake. They said it was running too rich at 11.9 and after the fix you can see the jump on the low end 226/312 to 249/343 - 30 ft-lbs torque!

Ron and Priscilla say My Titan produced the best numbers of all the Titans they have tuned and were REALLY impressed with the AEM BANKS combo. Even better than there own Titan! They say also that the gearing in the big tow package helps. I guess I am the shops top titan for now. Even better than a guy that was in there with JBA Headers.

Total tune time took about 2 hours which was not bad at all.

The drive back... lets just say I got home a bit quicker.

Ron and Priscilla are the real deal so if your near the Ft. Myers area check them out. www.proautotech.com

Been here a while, old news and many had no luck with the black box. You however did and that's why I asked what it ran you with your tuners. Also I believe there are those with RW numbers higher than yours with just Banks and AEM.

Yep, RBs Titan has 294.75 RWHP and 352 RWTQ with just Volant 2 and Banks.

Great numbers, Creative write up and nice truck.

I'm tempted to drive over as my cousin is getting married in Tampa in June. Just to see where he can get it to move on mine. Glad to see the Florida bunch catching up to us Texas boys...

just kiddin around.

Check RB's sig - modified banks? he also has aftermarket resonators.

Also I haven't seen any negative posts about Ron's Black box. If there is send me the link.
I think You are confused with RB's unichip that he fought to get a refund.

The "Black Box" was $420.00

I think what the box does more is that it tames the nissan ecu air fuel mixture.

It's not magic - it just tunes what you have.

No box will give you 30 hp if you are stock - it just smooths out what you have.

I had a very rich low end that he was able to fix and the dyno shows.

I'm driving down to Key West in June might drop in if everything is in and see them if everything is installed by then.

First things first:
SoBe regardless of my sig your numbers are very good and thanks for posting. I'm pleased to see yet another Titan with black box gains and nearly 300rwhp!!!...There's only a few of us naturally aspirated lucky ones.

Where was your A/F on the stock run? and where is it now? were they both flat or was there a large dip?

I had a cat replaced due to a slow A/F sensor which was the reason it was running rich. If your truck was really to rich down low then you might need to have the sensor replaced. However since you got the Bbox then perhaps the A/F is in much better shape therefor cat codes and or failure may not be a future problem for you. It took 28K for it to show up. I've got to do a new dyno to see where I am after new A/F sensor and cat.

Re: Black Box install dyno 288/339 hp before - 293/352 hp after

Thanks RB for the "shoutout" lol We may have to do an east coast west coast shootout. Are you east or west of the mason dixon line?

Ron said my a/f was pretty decent at stock and that I was going to make him work hard to squeeze more out of her. I think he said 11.9? Remember, I was on only 2 hours of sleep and I sorta napped between runs on the comfy couch they have there. He has seen a lot worse on titans. He's not sure why. The JBA headers Titan was a mess he said.
