Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Hey Guys,

I should be getting my Stillen exhaust on Monday!!! Just need to wait for the little yellow DHL truck. I've gotten a couple of quotes from $100-$120 to have it installed. That price includes them welding everything instead of using the clamps. This price seems kinda high...what should I expect to pay to have it installed?

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Thats not high, I paid $80 in labor just on a muffler swap. That was the lowest of 3 quotes in my area.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Thanks Sudden. Compared to the price you paid it is cheap. It just seems like it's a little high for a job that could be finished in a little more than an hour. I'll try Midas and Meineke tomorrow.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Why can't you put it in yourself? I once paid a guy at Midas $50 to install a Gibson onto my old Dodge Durango. You can find someone to do it cheap.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

I would say put it on yourself. It is a very easy unbolt and rebolt the new one in place. If you want to have it welded then take it to a welder and have him weld the seams. You will save alot of money going that way.

Congrats!!!!

You will be very happy

The stillen exhuast is different, you need to saw off right after the muffler then re-atch. I don't recall it having to be welded. I will check my pics and let you know. I think it was clamped back on. Took the guy at Stillen bout 15 minutes to do.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

The exhaust is really easy to install. Just like P said...we cut the stock exhaust right after the Y pipe and our exhaust has a collared fitting that slides right over the factory exhaust...that collar is about two inches long so you don't need to worry about having to get it welded, We use all the factory hangers so it slides right in to place. The most difficult part about the install is if you dont have access to a lift...simply because you'll be working on your back

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

I paid $100 to have mine installed. I just didn't feel like messing with it, but I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to install on your own if you want to save some dinero.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Thanks Guys! I can't wait...now P and I can represent Stillen Exhaust in a world of Banks and zoomers! P thanks for the pictures, could you take a couple of more pics when it stops raining? It would be really helpfull for use as a reference point. The pics do look like they welded it on. I could install it myself just trying to factor in my opportunity cost.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Gary if you ever make your way towards Tampa there is a shop here in Brandon called Sure Stop. They did the install on my Zoomers and charged 85.00. They are hot rodders and the guy that does the exhaust is the Charley Daniels of the MIG welder. His welds look like they were squeezed from a toothpaste tube.

Re: Price Paid For Exhaust Install

Rico,
I do make it out to the Tampa/Brandon area. I'll have to look him up if I make it out there in the next week or so. Thanks for the info...What do you think about me just getting it clamped on instead of welded?

Seriously, like Kyle and I said you don't need to weld. Mine wasn't.
