Unhappy Anyone been disappointed in their Mods?

I listened to the Exhaust clips sticky and thought I knew what I would come out with. So I found a good deal on a setup and bought it. This is the first performance mod to my truck, so with much anticipation I bought and prepared to install.

Long story short, I installed a Borla exhaust this weekend. Took about 2.5 hours from start to finish. Love the look of the system, and love what the dyno figures show (from what is reported), but i'm a little disappointed in the sound. It doesn't sound that much different from stock. Its a little deeper, and a little raspier, but not what I was expecting. Maybe the airbox mods will make it breathe and sound better.....

Not really disappointed....but im a little disappointed.

Anyone have similar experiences?

If so, did you do any further mods to make it better?

Re: Anyone been disappointed in their Mods?

Raven,

GET YOURSELF A CAI!!! Or mod your factory box.

You did what I did-added exhaust first, which actually hurt my truck's sound and performance. Do yourself a HUGE favor, get a CAI!! If you can't afford one, buy some type of drop-in filter (I have the AmsOil one,-NICE), and mod your factory airbox. Cut the snorkel back that's inside the airbox. You've gotta get more air coming in to compensate for the air going out. Trust me...it'll improve your exhaust sound, a lot!!

Re: Anyone been disappointed in their Mods?

Great! Thanks for taking the time.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Im going to try the airbox mod, and a drop in filter change first and see where that gets me.

I'll post on here when its done so hopefully someone else who has the same issues can learn from my uh...unfulfilled expectations.

Re: Anyone been disappointed in their Mods?

I did my exhaust and K&N drop with airbox mod at about the same time. I was pleased with the result. Now I have my CAI and the results are even better, at least sound quality wise.

Re: Anyone been disappointed in their Mods?

yeah a cai and if you have some spare change sitting around headers would make it sound real REAL nice, headers make all the difference in the world, as well as a CAI

I got the Flowmaster 50 series. I love the sound, I just feel like I have lost some low end torque. I think it'll all be good after I get CAI as well!!

Re: Anyone been disappointed in their Mods?

The only mod that I'm disappointed with is my driveshaft....I painted it white with a spiraling red stripe...like a candycane....it seemed like a good idea at the time, but now looks just plain goofy....I'll paint it gloss gray soon.
