Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

These things suck horribly, I can't even accelerate half throttle off the line without having a 100+ foot burnout The stock tires where much better, what gives these things where made for handling and traction.. I had 26lbs in the back tires at first and after trying to launch 3 times I looked at the rear tire on the right and it's already missing chuncks of rubber from the tire the thickness of a quarter.. I then tried airing up the tire closer to operating pressure of 38psi still same thing spins constantly till i get up to 45mph and by that time i'm already 100+ feet of a burnout..
Any ideas before I rip these off my truck and buy more tires?

Re: Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

you need stickier tires...you need something in the 300 treadwear range cause there softer....but they will not last long......

Long as they can last a yr or so I'm not worried, I found a 300 treadwear tire.. what you guys think bout these identical size as the ones I have now.. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...11&rd=18&ar=60

Re: Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

I just bought a set of these for my Titan, the exact same size. Once you get your air pressure dialed in right, these bad boys get some serious traction. I highly recommend these BFG's. Once I get my Tru Trac installed, they will hook up even better!

I just bought a set of these a few weeks ago. Price was my main concern. Local tire shop had a special on these. For the first week, I was burning out all the time. After wear-in, they have been pretty good.

Re: Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

Decypher which where u burning out on for the first week the Falken's or the BFG KDW's? I talked to a few performance shops today and everyone is saying go either with the BFG KDW's or the Nitto 555extreme drag radial both either give superb traction on/off the track, Called discount tire today and they even apoligized for selling me the wrong tire( yea i told them i wanted a hi-performance street/drag tire) They are shipping the bfg kdw's to the nearest discount tire shop in cary nc. and I'm going to swap them out next tuesday and just pay the diffrence of the cost of the tire which is like an additional 60 bucks or so.

Re: Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

I was referring to the Falkens. Like I said, after the first week, they have been fine. Not as good as I would like, but as good as I could afford.

UPDATE: As I got on the freeway yesterday, from a stop, I lit up the tires. Road was a little "dusty". Burned for a couple of feet. Still, not too bad.

Re: Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

Did some googling. Seems pretty good. Here are some reviews:

I don't know who this is, but dragstrip times using these tires:

Re: Anyone have Falken Ziex ST-04 traction problems?

I bought my Falkens for every day drivers (a decent sporty look), and to help provide some better traction at the track. I dont go there a whole lot so I got them instead of the KDW's or Nittos.

I've only made one trip to the track with them and got pretty decent traction. Better than the stock bicycle tires!

I think they are pretty good tires for the money.

I was pretty gentle with them on the street (for a few weeks) until I went to the track.

If I go full throttle from a dead stop I'm gonna roast just about any tire I put on my truck. Everyone knows thats a major killer when trying to race. Hopefully, I'll be able to get into the gas a little more after I install the TrueTrac.
