Muffler swap issue...........

Just spoke to my dealership service dept. about warranty being voided if I install an aftermarket exhaust in place of the stock muffler. All I wanted to do was swap out the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 40series. They told me it would void my warranty if I myself installed it or a shop installed it. They also said it would not void the warranty if they the dealership bought and installed the product. Is this true????

Re: Muffler swap issue...........

That's total bull****. By swapping the muffler, the only thing it could void is the pipe right where the muffler is and maybe the tailpipe. Give us his phone number and we will read him the riot act.

Re: Muffler swap issue...........

I do not see why that would void the warranty.. Seems like a ploy to extract more money from you. They would have to prove that you replacing the stock muffler directly caused whatever (may) go bad. Thats a load of crap.
I can see where if you change anything from the flanges up that it may void the warranty. Give Nissan a call direct and see what they say. Hope this made sense..

Re: Muffler swap issue...........

If something was ever to fail, the only way they could not warranty it is if they proved beyond a reasonable dout the muffler was the reason for the failure. As far as I know, there is nothing a muffler can break on a truck.

Re: Muffler swap issue...........

They are blowing smoke,........ or smoking something. I put a Flowmaster w/ duals on mine with 200 miles. Never had a problem w/ my dealership. They saw it with the first oil change and said it was a cool setup. Good luck with those goof balls your dealing with.

I think they realize that if people are nuieve enough to ask them this question in the first place, its a green light for them to take advantage of you.
