New Nismo air intake installed

What's up all? I went on a vacation finally! I only drove from Nebraska to Tulsa, 85 mph most of the way and only got 15 mpg. I went to the nissan dealership in Tulsa and bought the new nismo air intake setup. Wow! I can't keep my foot off the gas right now, but I need to see if it helps my gas milage on the way home. I wasn't cheap, but what is? I've noticed a dramatic increase in throttle response. The intake box needs a little fine tuning I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't want to suck any air from the engine compartment right? I'm going to make some gaskets and seal up the box some more and maybe try and draw some more air from the front of the truck. I'll have some pictures of the install when I get home.
Later all, dunder dan.

15 mpg at 85, that's not bad. I get that at 75! Let us know if the kit helps.

Re: New Nismo air intake installed

Having mine installed tommorrow at the dealer here in orlando. Would put it in
myself, but have to get my brakes done again!! Sure hopes it helps with the
gas mileage. From what I've read in several threads the performance gains are
worth it. Sure wish Nisimo would put out some newer products. Good luck.

Re: New Nismo air intake installed

I've got one and it is great! I just got back from a trip last monday. I went from Auburn, AL to Destin, FL. I was at about 85 most of the way and got 16.7 MPG. Not bad for 85 MPH.

Re: New Nismo air intake installed

My Armada LE with just an AEM and ECU reset, gets 17.1 MPG on the highway, doing 75. Not bad considering the Armada's must weight just a tad more then a Titan, no?

Re: New Nismo air intake installed

well, just put the Nismo CAI in. Wasn't tooo bad puttin it in. It took me and a buddy about 3 hours to put it in (1st hour and a half i was by myself goin slowly) Biggest pain in the butt was takin off the front left wheel and gettin under the fender liner to install the new heat shield. There were a few bolts that were a bit difficult to get to, but just about everything was 5mm or 8mm .

First thing i noticed, in conjunction w/ my exhaust, my exhaust seems much louder at idle and MUCH louder when i rev it. W/ the hood up you can hear the air sucking in, almost like a mini turbo.

Throttle response was improved. And let me tell you, when I went wide open throttle, the CAI is screaming at me for more. It sounds AWESOME. If anyone is intersested i'll post some pics. Def. well worth the money and time spent on it!

UPDATE - swapped out my AEM for the Volant, and same trip, same speed, it said 19.1 MPG now! Thats the best I have ever seen out of this truck!

Too bad I tossed the Volant, for the AEM again...

Do you still have the Volant? If so are you looking to sell it? And what made you switch back to the AEM from the volant? Just a few question from someone looking to get a CAI.
