I eventually want to get a Vorlant CAI for my Titan but I don't know when that will be as I have quite a few higher priorities and summer electric bills to look forward to. So I was thinking of picking up either a drop in K&N or Air Hog. Are they worth having performance wise or should I just keep what I have until I can pick up the CAI? I don't expect much, but a moderate bump in HP or fuel economy might be nice until I can free up the funds for a Vorlant.
i just finished the airbox mod, havent driven it yet but it has a little more growl when you rev it a little, or maybe im just wishful thinking as i love the intake growl

It's definately HAS a stronger "growl' after the box mod.

I just switched this past week to the Volant from the K&N drop-in. I found no noticeable improvement with the K&N MPG or HP. Save your money and get the CAI. IMO

With that K&N and airbox mod, it will be about 70% as effective as an aftermarket CAI, so go for it. Probably a 5-7 HP increase with the mod and dropin. The only way to see the gains clearly would be on a dyno. All I know for sure is before the mod and Amsoil dropin, my rear tires would just do a long chirp, after the mods they will spin a few feet.

Im with you, Before the Volant I would get a few feet of spin with the K&N. Now I am consistantly roasting the tires (When I want to) remember I got a 400 lb tool box in the bed to, imagine what an empty bed would do for me! I think he should keep his money and wait for the real CAI. I wish I had done that, that way I would have had the extra $80 (with cleaning kit) to spend on the exhaust I am getting ready to buy.

im probably going to make my own CAI. i have done it with all my other trucks, dont see why this one should be any different. but this one will be a little harder.
Triad, The fastest way to shorten the insde snorkel is to heat up a knife red hot and just do a straight melt (cut) with it still in the box. I left about 1" of snorkel in the box and it looks like the factory did it. Here's a link to the mod done the hard way: DIY - Air Box Mod
