Exhaust- Gibson or Stillen (NO BANKS!)

Not that many Sillen guys accept Gary. For you guys that have gone to meets and heard other exhausts, what are the advantages to one over the other (Gibson Vs. Stillen)

I like what Kyle@Stillen had to say about their product!

BTW any besides rcantu heard of or used Powertone???

Re: Exhaust- Gibson or Stillen (NO BANKS!)

I'd say go with the Stillen. I have the Gibson and i'm not very happy with it. The exhaust note at idle and light acceleration is nice but stomp on the peddle and it sounds like s*#t. I'll be buying a Stillen very soon.

Hmm, I like my Gibsons note.
Question for you. When you were on the throttle hard did it sound like you had an exhaust leak? I can't tell if it's the sound bouncing back at the truck or it I have aleak but recently I have noticed it does sound like crap. Was hoping that it was a leak since I was drunk off my a$$ when I installed mine (yea I know kinda stupid, but hey it's a bolt in exhaust system didn't think I could go wrong), I may have not tightened mine up enough at one of the rear reso's.

Re: Exhaust- Gibson or Stillen (NO BANKS!)

I went to the Stillen meet and heard both. The Gibson on the dyno was surprisingly loud. Maybe it was cause was at ear level. I don't know. I heard P's Titan Stillen and it was much quieter. Louder than stock but not intruding.

Tyltan thinks my exhaust starts up louder like a Banks. I know mine doesn't sound as loud at WOT like a banks but it's definitely louder. I hear my intake more than the exhaust.

I agree. I was very surprised at how loud the Gibson was. I really liked the sound of P's, so I decided to get the Stillen.

Dude, your truck is LOUD! I like the sound better than Banks, but I think it's just as loud.

Re: Exhaust- Gibson or Stillen (NO BANKS!)

I didn't even realize it! LOL

I think it's the damping inside my truck or my ears. My wife tells me I play the music too loud so I'll say it's me. LOL

Ummm, I don't get it. Is it because their exhaust is made out of stainless steel?

My .02 cents, avoid SS, and save the extra money that you pay for it, no matter whose system you get.

Theres a good chance stillens sytem is a rebadged gibson anyway. thier altima exhaust is a rebadged magnaflow.

if the driver doesn't live where they salt the roads due to snow or by the ocean I would agree.

Actually sir,

We manufacture all of our own exhaust systems. Stillen is not just a store front. We have our own machine shop, fabrication shop, R&D department, assembly department, modeling/designing department...we are a company with over 120 employees...

We also manufacture alot of exhaust systems for some very prestigous companies (by contract I am not allowed to disclose their names) we also manufacture all of the sway bars for one of the largest suspension companies in the world (again...by contract I am not allowed to disclose their names)

We have three facilities that we currently occupy. One for the sales/machining/urethane production/modeling,designing/service department and central R&D. We have another building across the street from the main office which is used for our warehousing. And about a block and a half down the road we have another building which does all of our fabrication/manufacturing.

99% of the parts that say Stillen on them are manufactured in one of our facilities. 100% of the parts that say Stillen on them are manufactured in the U.S. This is the only way that we feel comfortable doing business so that we can see the quality of every single part that we make first hand, and if we feel something needs to be changed, we can make an immediate adjustment. Obviously some things like our intake systems which are roto-molded plastics we do not have the immediate resources to make in house but we do all of the prototyping and R&D...We have a dyno at our facility to test every single performance enhancing product, and if it does not make any power...we will design it until it does. that is why we went through about a half dozen designs of our exhaust system before we were happy with our production piece. I know this because they used my truck for the R&D.

I checked my exhaust and there is no exhaust leak. It only sounds like crap when i stomp on it. After hearing the Stillen exhaust at the meet, to me that has the best exhaust note then the Banks.
