If you had the same tranny gearing we have with your ring gear your milage will be non existant as well as top speed.

Hemi Man....Sorry not game over if you had the same tranny as us. Our differentials are geared around our trannies thats why we have 2.94's or 3.36's in the back....In other wordz if your dodge had a titan tranny with dodge gears you would burn a **** load of gas and would not be practical for the street you would rev to high.

3rd: 1.52 x 3.357 rear axle = 5.10
4th: 1 x 3.357 rear axle = 3.36
5th: .834 x 3.357 rear axle = 2.80

Dodge 545RFE ratios:

1st: 3 x 3.92 rear axle = 11.76
2nd: 1.67 x 3.92 rear axle = 6.55
3rd: 1 x 3.92 rear axle = 3.92
4th: .75 x 3.92 rear axle = 2.94
5th: .67 x 3.92 rear axle = 2.63

The question is why does the Dodge come from the factory with downhill gearing?
here it is with the 2.937 rear end:

1st: 9.173
2nd: 5.676
3rd: 3.643
4th: 2.397
5th: 1.999

so you see, the dodge is shorter than the 2.397 rear....

Re: True Trac and Gears

But I think most Dodges come with 3.77 or 3.73's from the factory right?

The TruTrack does not change the actual gears. It makes the rear end a true limited slip. It will use your curent 2.96 gears....and I called Nissan....the 3.36 gears are not for sale...must buy the entire rear end. Unless you can find one wrecked....which I have seen!

Re: True Trac and Gears

With them big tires the 3.36 gears would be nice. There are several members that have wrecked there Titans. You may search it out and find out where there trucks are at and ask about the rear end gears.......worth a try.

Given 2 identically designed rear ends with different gear ratios, the one with the lower gear ratio will be stronger. So in theory, the 3.92 in the Dodge should be stronger than the 3.56 in the Titan.

The same is true of transmissions. The 3.8 1st gear in the Titan should technically be stronger than the 3.0 in the Dodge. The same thing applies to all 5 gears.

Both designs accomplish the exactly the same thing, and one isn't necessarily better than the other. Nissan just decided design more strength into the transmission and less into the rear end than Dodge.

I'm fixing to swap rears out replacing my 2.94 with 3.36 and trutrac....entire rear end.

I think 04runner has a 3.36 axle minus one splined axle so you could use part of yours and his 3.36. Pm him.
