Best Mods for low RPM gains.

What mods will get me the most low end power gains, even if I lose some top end?

In the month I've owned me Titan, I've never had it above 3500 RPM, so I'm looking for something that will help my MPG while cruising (2000 RPM)

I would think the TBS would help this the most, correct? What about an exhaust?

Re: Best Mods for low RPM gains.

I found that the TBS has improved my mid to high end, not so much difference in my low end... I cruise around 1500-2500 RPMs, running 35's w/ 6" lift, air bow mod/flowmasters, and am getting around 12.5 to 12.8 MPG in city. I cruise on highway around 70-80 MPH, 2000-2500 RPM, and getting around 15.5-16 MPG, so it seems like my high end is getting better efficiency with the TBS then the low... IMO per butt dino and personal estimated figures

Re: Best Mods for low RPM gains.

Exhaust probably not going to help either. You lose some backpressure/low end torque with the aftermarket exhaust. Tends to help mid and upper RPM.

You could check out the "black box" threads. that may help.

Re: Best Mods for low RPM gains.

Advancing the timing seemed to help my low end pretty well.

2" headers, with 2" y pipe to 2" collector with banks muffler and exit. AEM intake. Should make it a torque monster.

Re: Best Mods for low RPM gains.

On an otherwise stock truck an intake has been quantified to produce less power in the low RPM range than stock. IMO, swap the stock muffler for a magnaflow 5X11X22 and call it a day.

Re: Best Mods for low RPM gains.

Well, just installed Volant CAI and LED taillights this morning. Test drive afterwards went well. Butt dino feels better power and get up around 2000 RPM, great sound too! Helpful at low end, especially with the BT on. Improved takeoff felt too. Now only to set up true dino to see what she's doing. As my buddy across the street said, "your truck sounds more like a muscle car then a truck..." I am very happy with my Volant CAI, Air Raid TBS, and Flowmaster cat back combo... Now only to get the lady to authorize the JBA headers, shorties... (dee-amn the California emissions) pics to come soon...
