So I've got a 2006 SE 5.6 Litre, what should I do to add as much possible HP for under $500. Im using it mainly for fun, but some racing too. No I will not use Nitrous.
I'd also like it to sound pretty cool, not like a diesel truck, just a deep sound.
honestly, nothing for 500 bucks. Possibly intake and exhaust if you spend your 500 wisely. Good luck and welcome to TT. You have a 5.6 too? awesome! (sorry for being a smarta*ss, but someone would've said it if I didn't.)

I spent $500 for my intake/exhaust. Exhaust was a used Banks that a very nice fellow Titan owner let go cheap, and I bought a new AFE Stage II intake on group buy... total was around $500, and I'm pretty sure there was a big performance jump!
I also think you best bet would be an air intake and exhaust. That is probably were most people start. You would really have to do some searchin to find both for $500. Try posting up here in the wanted section and you might find some people willing to sell if they are looking to change systems.

Mod ur air box w/ KN drop in, TBS, Exhaust upgrade (make sure pipes stay OEM, no 3" piping)... That's a good start, prob spend short of $500, check in Buy/Sell for good TT deals, and ... save up for more mods at a later date... Use search mode in TT for ideas, read, read, and read some more... lot's of HP info. here...

The most improvement you can gain is about 20hp all around the mods listed above. I would go with Banks and an intake. If intake is not possible, do the airbox mod and put in a K&N filter and be done with it. You should look at headers if that's a possibility

you can spend that 500 and get about 15-20 hp which is cool and all, but why would you not consider nitrous, if all you care about is HP then nitrous is the clear winner. With 500 you can push 50-70HP easy. at the rate of HP per dollar using the intake/exhaust your at 0.04 now with nitrous your at 0.12 hp per dollar. Bad thing about nitrous is that the HP isint constant. but if all you care about is HP then juice her.

You could get a gibson swept side kit for around $375 and then do the airbox mod and drop in K&N. That might even come in under your budget! Also, find someone to do the 2 degree timing advance for free.
I found a Banks cat back exhaust on Ebay for $400 that I put on easily myself on the driveway with no issues, and a K&N genII air intake setup off ebay for $135 - both together made a big difference on my 2005 CC with big tow package. Probable the best $$ spent so far on the truck. However, the drone of the Banks got to my wife, so I spent $130 for a Zoomers exhaust tip - problem solved. I hope this helps you.

Not to mention $40 bottle fill ups every 100seconds you push the button... I don't think nitrous is for most people who just want to go fast. It's a big commitment and responsibility (you have to check on things frequently to make sure you don't make a mistake - bottle pressure, line condition, fuel-T, solenoids). And of course it's not a show-off mod because people won't see/hear you.
