TruTrac Titan V.S. 96F Heat @ the track

Temps today where around 96 degrees with 73% humidity and someone had a laser light heat reader out there and was shooting the pavement at the staging lanes and he said it was 137F! Tires where grabbing supergood today, and yes it's still possible to do a burnout in my titan provided they get the water trough wet enough.. Wish I wouldve had a camera I was doing nice 10 sec long burnouts and I could see the smoke coming out from both wheel wells nicely :P

The truck was even pulling sideways some I'm sure it looked mean with a big *** white truck doing a posi burnout going sideways in the staging pit..
Here's my 3 best times:

1ST race
Reaction: .5536
60ft: 2.2402
330ft: 6.3763
1/8th: 9.7473
1/8thmph: 72.73
1/4ET: 15.133
1/4MPH: 91.33

Let the engine cool down for a hr and a half..

2ND race
Reaction: .6517
60ft: 2.3202
330ft: 6.4844
1/8th: 9.8673
1/8thmph: 72.56
1/4ET: 15.2819
1/4MPH: 90.83

Ran her 2 more times back to back but got worse numbers...
Let her cool down another hr before leaving..

Last run:
Reaction: .6770
60ft: 2.3601
330ft: 6.5450
1/8th: 9.9435
1/8thmph: 72.45
1/4ET: 15.3410
1/4MPH: 90.95

Overall I wasn't too impressed with my times the 60 ft didn't increase any compared to my last runs, the ecu is just too damn restrictive and I'll probably keep from running my truck at the track again till I get the Ecu tuned from Technosquare..

i think those are very repctable times considering the heat......are u saying the trutrac didn't help you 60' times? Maybe it was cooler outside when u ran those other times?

Re: TruTrac Titan V.S. 96F Heat @ the track

yea think when I ran my 14.8 it was 60ish temps at 11pm at night they had a Freaky Friday event where you can race all night long ended up being like 4,500 people there.. was awesome too many crotch rockets though there was probably atleast 200-250 of them easy

That is a HUGE turnout!!! Wow I've never been a track that crowded.

Anyways your times are okay, but I'm sure they could be better with the right weather. Be sure to let us know come fall.

Re: TruTrac Titan V.S. 96F Heat @ the track

yea it's no better than before the trutrac I was hoping it'd help me pull harder off the line but maybe i won't get the full potential till i get some PRG traction bars who knows.. I didn't feel any wheel hop yesterday but on the street when i nail it off the line the left wheel hops most of the time off of the line..

Those aren't bad numbers considering the temp and humidity.

Avoid the pit next time. When you go in the water pit, you still get water in the treads and it can affect your take off.

Re: TruTrac Titan V.S. 96F Heat @ the track

I have to go thru it they have barrier walls on both sides and no room to go around it.. Even if I did want to go around it I wouldn't be able to do a burnout with posi traction with the KDW tires they grab like no tommrow, the water was the only thing that let me get my tires hot enough to do a burnout. On the street my truck gets good traction but usually for some reason the rear wheel hops which is getting rather annoying..

Oh, well if you can't go around it, then nevermind. In regards to your wheel hops, have you lowered your truck or done anything to the rear suspension? Do they make traction bars for your trucks. They make them for the Ram and it' pretty reasonable, about $250. Pretty good time anyway considering the conditions.

Have you installed those cheap little helper springs on the front side of your leafs ?? Some have said they're the cats meow.

Just try to get the water off the tires! Don't do a long burn out and over heat your tires! You only do that to drag tires.

seems odd. from what i can remember from my days at the track(its been around 7 years since ive raced), you didnt want your front tires went, and would drive around the water and then back into the water with your back tires only.

And if your KDW tires grab like no tomorrow, why are you doing a burnout in the first place? heating your tires allows them to grab. if yours grab anyway, your only wasting money and rubber by smoking them.

and water doesnt allow you to get your tires hot enough to do a burnout? Did you mean slippery enough?
